just wondered who you felt achieved more than they should of in the game - not taking anything away from the fighters themselves but maybe they got a lucky break or had just one night of brilliance

Hasim rahman. Unlike the mccall ko, lennox always considers this ko a complete fluke. Rahman dined out on that victory for years and year with big money title shot after title shot.

John Davidson as well, he did well as did Gary De Reux - for someone who came from nowhere he could really fight - the bout with Murphy was X rated.

yeah he had lost as many as he won up to the paul harvey fight then things seem to turn around for him

Paul Harvey was a good lad as well, a tall hard hitter; Robinson was tough and fit as hell; he had a very good technique as well - he was 'lucky' that Davidsons' opponent was pulled from the fight but it wasn't luck that saw him able to step in and win - Davidson could really fight and had a knock out punch.

if my memory is correct robbo was fighting around the british title level losing as many as he won then he got a fight with a paul harvey who was surposed to win then robbo got a WBO shot because fighters kept pulling out and he took his shot and pulled off a big upset beating john davison . steve robinson also gave away one of his fight purses to a charitie in wales if i remember rightly

Stevie Cruz was a plumbers mate and a part time pro when he got the call a week before to box McGuigan; he beat him over 15 rounds dropping him 3 times and became world champ.

I read John Davison,s book on holiday a few years back and thourghly enjoyed,it was a right laff although it must be said according to his logic,he should still be unbeaten

to be honest mahatma I kind of thought - where did he come from? When Glen boxed for the world title - he was unproved at that level; a champion now who has done very well is Salido and Manuel Medina both had spotty records before becoming champions.

In terms of recent British boxers I would say Kerry Hope and Danny McIntosh. Both were surprise European champions and lost the title in their first defence. In terms of British world champions I would give Barry Jones and Nicky Cook a mention.

Chris Edwards did well to pick up British and Commonwealth titles when you see the amount of losses he has on his record,especially as the Flyweight division isnt exactly stacked in this country

Say what you want about Edwards ability,his engine was world class,one of the best ive seen ever

Ricky Burns has been lucky to this point so far

Didn't really deserve the shot at Martinez, but he took it and he's proven himself world class and there was nothing lucky about his lightweight title.

Stuey Hall is probably the luckiest recent British fighter to become a world champ, can't fault him for grabbing the opportunity though.

x2 chris edwards - he beat then drew with dale robinson who on paper should have beaten him then just kicked on from there turned his record around
