Michael Gomez now defends his WBU super-featherweight title against Uganda's Justin Juuko at the Kingsway Sports Centre in Widnes on May 22 (Saturday). Gomez was originally scheduled to face Bouziane Oudji but the Frenchman withdrew due to injury.
This is a dodgy match. Juuko is well over the hill.

Not like Oudji was much cop anyway.

Juuko's been around for ever. Been in with some good names, although he's lost to most of them...

But the way Gomez fights, anyone who can take and give a punch has got to be an interesting opponent. I still think Gomez will walk it, though.

Good old Justin, a real nice guy.... spends a lot of time at the Peacock.
Past his best now, but was a genuine top 10 fighter in his day....

At least Juuko will be back in his own division and is on a winning run (admittedly against unknowns).

I wouldn't expect Gomez to steamroll him necessarily.

Is Justin living back in Uganda, knockout, or living in England and travelling to Uganda for fights?
And how do you rate his chances with Gomez, mate?

Bennie: He is back and forth, seems to travel between USA, UK and Uganda pretty regularly... i think he promotes his own shows in Uganda.
Havent seen him for a month or two and havent seen him fight since Cotto.

Hard to see how this will go, not sure how much Justin has left, as he has been fighting out of his division and Gomez, you are never sure which one will turn up...

Also how easy will Juuko make super feather.... its been a few years I think since he has fought this light....

Juuko is a warrior and a genuine test in his prime but unfortunately i think he is shot now and will do well to last into round 3 with a fighter like Gomez.

Juuko is only 31 though, he might be alright. For some reason I thought he was about 38, feels like he's been around forever.

Oh Juuko... The man who has lost 6 of his last 12 fights and the man who Cotto pasted in only his 10th pro fight, only 1lb difference in weights at the time 137lbs - 138lbs.

You mean he is fighting for a 'WORLD TITLE'............... wow, must be a creditable organisation!!!!

This is a good fight, I would still say on a world wide level Juuko is considered above Gomez. I mean, it was only last year he had signed to fight for the WBC Super Featherweight title.

He may be past his best, but I think he is still competitive and I for one am geniunally excited by this match. It will certainly test how much of this new form is down to the "new Gomez" or is it due to Alex Arthur being hoplessly overrated.

Good fight, tough one to call - geniunally.

Sorry, your right its not a bad match up on paper, I'm just frustrated at this being billed as a WORLD TITLE fight when lets be honest its not worthy.
