As I said in one of the other topics, I don't know you but I respect you and your achievements and I wish you the best going forward. If you do get the urge to box again, do it, there's no shame in retiring and then changing your mind.

Told you in the past that at first I didnt rate you and was hoping to see you box karl chiverton in those early days thinking karl would have handled you.
Throughout your boxing career though you continued to prove doubters wrong and by the end of your career you turned around the vast majority including myself.no doubt , like myself , everyone thought you was justba gimmick , the ex footballer trying to be a boxer , the ex footballer tag is now long gone and im pretty sure youll be remembered now as an ex boxer not an ex footballer , which speaks volumes about what youve done in boxing. Well done and enjoy your retirement, found it hard to enjoy your fight as much at beginning due to it being immediately after leigh but by the end I was applauding , whixh is typical of me in following your career.
The main thing you have gained is respect as I believe your one of Britain's most respected boxers currently, but no matter what now youll be part of a select group who can say they were british champion.

I woke my kids up screaming when John Mcdonald said "and new" last night Curtis, and I got an ear bashing that you'd have been proud of off the Mrs but I wouldn't change it for the world.

One of, if not the, best sporting memory that I'll ever have. You did it the hard way and worked your bollocks off to prove certain people wrong and you had the backing of all of us last night.

I imagine your dad is watching somewhere above us with the biggest smile ever, you did him proud Curtis.

I can totally understand your reasons for knocking it on the head, it's hard to imagine a better night than that, as much as from a selfish point of view I'd have loved to have followed you more.

Enjoy your time with the family now and keep on telling them that their dad is the champ.

Absolutely fantastic curtis, tremendous achievement. If you stay retired you will remain undefeated british champion, what an accolade.

I disliked hamilton in the build up, now he knows what your purpose is! In all honesty I had you 2 points down going into the last, but it was a close fight and you deserve your moment, I guess you have been on the end of a few questionable decisions. HAMILTON FOUGHT LIKE A COWARD, the man who was going to jab your head off etc etc cautiously worked off the back foot, left his jabbing hand superglued to his left ear, punched with his arms and not his hips and his legs etc. He was audley harrisonesque in terms of offensive ambition, his uppercut was his only effective punch. Im sure he will kick himself this morning as his mouth wrote the cheques that his fists did not cash.

was he respectful to you after the fight?

were you surprised at his lack of power or did his KO ratio say it all?

Hows about a celebration night close to your home curtis, you say where and when and the boxrec lads will be there to admire the belt, chew some fat and enjoy a beer with the new british champ. IM UP FOR IT... come on curtis. When and where. We will even let you bring RR and DC along too!

I thought Darren Hamilton came across really well after the fight. Credit to both fighters.

I think saying Hamilton fought like a coward is going a bit too far. He fought those last 3-4 rounds like a man who knew he was gassing/tired.

Why would he not block the left side of his face, as Curtis was effective with the looping right hand over the top and had caused some damage to it already. The uppercut was a very effective weapon for him, he caught Curtis with it a few times, it was good counterpunching from the lad.

Fantastic achievement.

ok, coward perhaps not the best term to use for any fighter brave enough to enter the ropes, but hamilton fought like a scared man, he was more interested in curtis not catching him than he was about letting his own hands go. Hence being on the back foot, hence the arm punches, hence the lack of power. Hamilton did not deliver, he made out he was some sort of larry holmes with his press conference jab comments. Thanks for your tips as to why his hand was glued to his ear, I did not realise that . . . . . .

im taking the piss obviously but what I mean is that hamilton was so worried about woodhouses 'bingo right' that he negated his own jab, it became an occasional poor paw. Curtis is relatively one dimensional (sorry curtis) and does what he says on the tin, hamilton, as the supposed skillful stylist should have comprehensively outboxed woodhouse, but curtis had obviously rattled him in the build up.

I fecking loved the result!
