So - in all the (unreliable) papers today, it insinuates that Woodhouse put £5k on him to win at 50-1.... 50-1???? Clearly bullshit. The best odds you could get were 7/2 on a woodhouse win. And even if he bet himself on points, I would imagine the best odds would be around 8-1.

Ridiculous claim... And 'apparently' Woodhouse hints that the 50-1 bet was true.

Hmmmmm does anyone know the reality? If he put £5k on himself at 5-1 that is believe able... Though I never saw a price that good

Er, I think he put the bet on a long time ago, when he first turned professional, and not in the build up to the actual fight!

Presumably because he said pre-fight this was his last fight and doesn't enjoy being punched in the head for a living and has achieved the goal he set out to achieve.

I think he said on here that he found it hard explaining to his kid (kids?) the aftermath of the Mathews fight.

I thought he put the bet on just before he turned pro.

I asked Curtis on here about 3 months ago if he planned to fight for as long as he could and said he would fight on until his 40,s if his body would hold up

I imagine he had a change of heart after getting a shot at the British,it,s a fitting way to retire

I do not know anything about the bet just heard it on Georgie Bingham's program at 7am this morning. and it was deffo 50k they said

That win last night is up there with Barker and Burns winning world titles for sheer drama and emotion IMO

The rumour is 5 grand at 50-1 to b british champ b4 he turned pro boxer. And judging by his interview after the fight ”the drinks r on me". He cud b true if so fair play to the fella. Only met curtis once at a show but had a good chat with him about footy and boxing. I was so happy watching last night how he proved a lot of doubters wrong also the interview about his promise to his dad that he made very touching.

Surely the moment curtis retires the title becomes vacant, therefor dont retire until the board orders you to defend, give yourself some time to ride the crest of the wave as british champ, you deserve it.

Sadly his dad didn't live to see him fulfil his dream but he always vowed he'd do it.
He's retiring because he's done it, knows he's reached his potential and nothing could ever match what he achieved last night.
He went to his dads grave today put the Lonsdale Belt on said a prayer - mission accomplished.

I was dubious too as I've seen lads try and make the same kind of bets who have either been told to go away, limited to a much lower stake, or offered far tighter odds. However, Parson Cross is typically a rock solid source so if he says it's right, that's good enough for me. I hope it's right, I love stuff like that.
