Ricky Burns vs winner of Crolla and Murray

With Eddie Hearn keen on the fight between Anthony Crolla and John Murray, i can see him pushing through a fight with Ricky Burns in the summer.
I'd personally like to see Ricky fight the winner of Crolla and Murray if that fight happens in April.
Both of them would pose different problems to Ricky. The fight with Anthony Crolla has been spoken about before but if he were to lose then John Murray could maybe take that shot from Anthony.

Anthony Crolla: If Crolla can hold off the aggressive John Murray it would good preparation for a potential bout with Ricky who is a big lightweight, Anthony would try to box with Ricky and would be a good fight for him to come back to.

John Murray: would be a very interesting fight, John showed last night he is still a big lightweight and if he overcomes the Crolla test then he would try putting lots of pressure on Ricky and we would find out if Ricky can dig down deep in a hard fight again.

I would prefer Anthony Crolla because with what i saw last night i think John could impose his style on ricky and maybe out hustle him, to me Ricky seemed to want to protect his jaw and wasn't interested in fighting inside and was intent on standing against the ropes with his hands up covering his chin. Imo John Murray would make him pay for having his hands that high with body attacks and really wear Ricky down.

Saying that if ricky boxed like he has done when winning the titles then he could outbox John.

Which of these 2 would you like to see win and get the fight with ricky?

Eddie has already said that Ricky would only fight a domestic fighter if there was a world title on the line.

I didn't know that mate, i think throwing Ricky into another world title fight would be silly. Anyone who watched that fight last night could see Ricky needs confidence built up before massive fights again.

It would be silly (world title fight next), Burns needs to take reality check his last few performances have been poor. He needs a change, boxing tall behind the jab is his best bet I’m not even sure he could beat Murray or Mitchell again watching him last night. Someone made a good point in another thread Luke Campbell will probably scalp him in a year.

I have to agree with this, I think the Ricky Burns ride is over, his last performances have been well bellow his standard and last night looked like he was fighting with a broken jaw again. I think they will tide him over with a couple of stiffs before making him the sacrificial lamb in Campbell or Murrays way to a world title shot

Throw him in with Mitchell for the IBF eliminator, beat him up again then go and fight Vasquez.

Wishful thinking on Eddie's behalf, if indeed he even made such a moronic statement, and probably an attempt to give Burns some much needed hype and confidence.

I think Eddie Hearn would have revised that attitude after the Beltran robbery. Saying that, i am very sceptical that he would have made such a stupid statement in the first place.

To be fair he has proved himself to be a level above every other lightweight in the country and up until now has had no reason to fight any of them, but he may have to if he wants to get a world title fight quickly, but I'd rather see him have 2 fights while he and Billy make some necessary changes, then a world title fight.

Murray needs to earn the right to that sort of chance first, if he beats Crolla, then we can start talking about Burns, he looked good last night but he was too big for Simpson more than anything else and Simpson landed plenty of clean shots, he just didn't have the power to stop Murray from walking through them.

I would have no qualms with Burns fighting Murray next if he cant entice one of the other champs,Ricky doesnt have a title so John doesnt really need to earn a shot as Murray fought for world title himself 3 fights ago, albeit with a 2 year absence so no-one can really be in a queue as such to challenge Burns

Get it on,Murray,s a much better type of opponent for Ricky, although if Ricky is declining then i,d fancy Murray for the win,i,ve not seen a great performance from Ricky in a while but i dont know if that was the Gonzalez/Crawford slickness or Beltran broken jaw scenarios or has Ricky had his time :??

I fear the latter but never write Ricky Burns off

Joe Gallagher wouldn't want Crolla in with Murray, how bad will it make him look if Murray beats Crolla, I can see Murray fighting Mitchell in a rematch or Burns later this year,

well crolla v murray is on, it's going to be potentially the best fight each man's been in, there's a lot at stake and crolla-murray warrants its own thread beyond doubt.

I don't know, you would think so but Mitchell beat Murray up really badly in their first one.

FW in this week's Boxing News suggests Burns is shot, having not won more than 5 rounds in the past 3 fights. A best he's probably regressed to domestic level.

Well looks like Queen Elizabeth bank notes have made this fight happen, good fight, 50/50 i think. Egg on Gallagher face if Murray does a job on Crolla.
