Two men who threw white paint on a black sculpture of the legendary Joe Louis were sentenced today to 30 days in jail.
Brett Cashman, 45, and John T. Price, 27, pleaded guilty last month to malicious destruction of property and were also ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution.
Cashman and Price, both white, were arrested in February for throwing paint on the Joe Louis sculpture in Detroit, which shows Louis raising a fist. They have said they targetted the sculpture because of its violent imagery, not as a racist act.

This is great news. Joe Louis was born today (yes, today) in 1914. Happy birthday, Joe. RIP.
