What a surprise to see such a great new addition to the BN team, and what a relief to see such a knowledgeable, and relaxed studio guest, after the stiffs that line up in the sky studios. Obviously a huge fan of the game, and his authority had the effect of calming the highly excitable big Bunce down - which makes it much easier to listen in.

I remember him being in some great fights back in the 90's, but I never realised what a natural he is as a boxing pundit. Let's hope BN bring him back on as much as possible

Agree, I thought he was the best analyst I've seen on B-Nation. No name dropping, just a knowledgable genuine fan.

Yeah, he did well. I reckon he'll be on again, it's nice to have a mix up - they all bring a different view and Logan does know the game. Glad he's doing alright and thought he was OK as an MC.

He was excellent and passed on really interesting boxing knowledge. He clearly had prepared and was natural. No pretentious personna or incessant name-dropping 'big-ups' for all and sundry, just proper technical analysis. Superb.

Gary was a good domestic boxer, nice stylist. Came up short in his challanges for British title, but always gave a good account of himself.

He chinned a lot of men as an amateur.

I thought he was excellent and hope he's back soon.

Thought Gary Logan did a great job. Hope he becomes a permanent fixture on allegedly.

Incidentally, one of Logan's many knockout wins as an amateur was in the London ABA welterweight final in 1988 over Kevin Lueshing (first round).

The same year Mark McCreath beat him(1st round if my memory is correct) the stage after in the old English Semi's..Remember McCreath-Dean Hartman(clacton) in the Quarters,what a fight the was until Hartman was stopped in the 3rd round

Mark McCreath was a a good fighter. Didn't you box around that time Tommy? You did well in your region as a junior I remember.

I was training then,had first fight in 1989 but always travelled round following my club at a young age(remember it like yesterday)good times...i done ok till we got put in with the London/Essex Schoolboys haha

That's a big pond and some good clubs in that catchment area.

You're right, Tommy. McCreath went on to win the ABA title and probably deserved the '88 Olympic slot but they decided to drop Mark Elliott down to light-welterweight and didn't send a welterweight, if my dodgy memory serves me correctly.

Yes it was a strange year McCreath beat Mark Elliott & Neville Brown beat Ritchie Woodhall in the Midland finals,but both losers got picked for the 1988 Olympics..

I think it was known as the Kevin Hickey factor. Brown blew it, of course, in the ABA semis but McCreath deserved a chance. It happens before every Olympics.

Wasn't it because Woodhall and Elliot had done well in the England vest while McCreath had fewer internationals? Woodhall was trained by his father who preferred the international tournaments over the ABAs - Robin Reid was similar I think I remember.

True,getting blown out by Wayne Ellis didn't do his chances any good,as you say McCreath deserved to go.

I think back then the ABA had there favourites,Not sure if McCreath had boxed for England before he claimed the title

I can remember that there were gyms that were favoured; Newco Repton in particular always seemed to have 3 or 4 in an England vest at any 'friendly'.
