From a British point of view id say pat barrret and Collin McMillan at one point both looked like they could perform at the highest level only to fall short , must be others apart from Audley !

I once Bet Jeff McCracken $20.00 on the outcome of a Phoenix Suns game....and he never paid up.

Dominick Guinn looked like the total package when he turned pro.
Man what a disappointment.

For me personally -
Michael Grant - I was a teenager who bought the publicity and hype. I thought
this HBO baby would have done better and more with his career.
Eddie Chambers - I still have high hopes for Fast Eddie but I was really excited
to see a small heavyweight with good defence do well, another Chris Byrd or
sorts but alas...
David Haye - Sure the book is still open on the Hayemaker but....
James Page - for a while as a young teenager until my late teens I thought
that Page would go on to something great and better than how things panned
out.
And some other fighters I had high expectations for include - Roy Jones Jr at Heavyweight, Andrew Golota,
Orlin Norris and Mark Breland.

I believed John Wesley Meekins was a phenom in the making and then discovered ESPN had hype-making power.
As a teenager, I used to spar with a local heavy named Ric Enis who was an ex-IU football player, super athlete, and a heck of a good guy, especially to a nobody novice like me. He went on a string of local ko's and won the state title and I expected he would go pretty far and then he fought another undefeated heavyweight named Tommy Stevenson and got starched in 45 seconds. That was a shock and a devastating letdown.

I expected more from:
Jerome Coffee...What happened to him? I do not know.
Rodolfo "El Gato" Gonzalez...I am not talking of the WBC world lightweight king Gato, I am talking about lightweight Mexican contender of the late 70s and early 80s Gato.
Riddick Bowe...What a great talent thrown to waste.
I expected Donald Curry to be an all time great.

Gato should've beaten Claude Noel for that belt.At least he could've been champ for a minute.very hot prospect for a time.

Scott Harrison....actually did have a career of note, so perhaps unfair. But he went clean off the rails just when the really big fights which would have made him a cross-over star were in the offing. Bloody shame because he was a talent.

Laing is a good shout. He could have been great but kind of lacked focus as it were. Golota was one that seemed to have all the tools although seems minus the ones upstairs. I lost a lot of money on him in the Lewis fight. On a money per second losing bet it has to be up there with the worst.
