Mitchell wins in 2 in a complete mismatch, Avakyan really shouldn't have been allowed into the ring with him, couldn't even hold his hands up properly and keep his feet in anywhere close to the right position when moving. Basically a European level fighter against a novice.

Why did Hearn book that opponent?

Abysmal.

Avakyan looked like he'd just finished his paper round. He had absolutely nothing to offer and looked like a gust of wind would have knocked him down.
I guess they need to keep Mitchell busy to make sure he doesn't go off the rails.

How is Mitchell ready for a world title?

I think I read on Twitter that there was soon to be a big announcement for Mitchell which is why they would have put him in with the softest opponent possible.

Mitchell wants the IBF belt because Arturo Gatti was once IBF champion That, or because all the other champions would beat him easily, then again, so will Vazquez if the fight comes off.

Eddie seems to be getting tighter and tighter when it comes to bringing in opponents.

It is, but I was being even more cynical - what I meant was, if you look at Kevin's two world title attempts, and evaluate it as a cold hearted businessman might, you would conclude that he is not going to win a world title, however it makes no financial sense to tell him to retire or lower his sights - the idea is to make money out of a third world title fight even if he loses. If he manages to win, even better. And by lining up cannon fodder like the guy we've just seen get rolled over, hopefully it will help dupe the large volume of Mitchell fans into parting with their cash to see that third world title fight. As another poster in this thread has astutely observed, Kevin hasn't faced any decent British opposition on this come-back. You don't want the potential ticket buyers to see him in a life and death battle at domestic level and write off his world title chances, you want to trick them into thinking "he'll do it this time".

Perkins doesnt look like he can punch his way out of a wet paper bag but he's got good skills for sure.
