Watching Ringside and Ed Robinson just mentioned this has been put forward by the IBF

Opponent is Brandon Gonzales drew with Oosthuizen who I'd heard was a good prospect.

This is good for James as he's been messed about by the WBC plus we all know how the IBF don't mess about with mandatories.

Gonzales is nothing special I wouldnt say. I'd fancy Degale to beat him. He's got a come forward style. Oosthuizen was just shown to be pretty average in the end.

He should have got a shot against Bika, Bika will get beaten soon, well past his best, another final eliminator, last one could not make it to the fight, got ko'ed in his warm up.

They will offer up Bika for Chavez jr, then Chavez will fight who he likes.

If Degale wins this, would this mean he would fight either Froch or Groves, assuming they win a few voluntary defences after their fight?

This puts pressure on the WBC and works well as a fall back

the IBF see the money in making DeGale against the winner of Froch Groves smart. the WBC where always going to give the Bika shot to Chavez.

What does Ward do now? Seems the division is passing him by whist he's quite clearly the best in it he has no interst fighting the champions anymore it seems. If Chavez beats Bika and Froch beats Groves you could see a unification with 3 belts on the line. DeGale would then be mandatory for the winner

That's sort of like saying the Featherweight division of the last 6 or 7 years was meaningless as John was the real champion...

I don't see DeGale beating either Froch or Groves at the moment.

Oosthuizen looked rather awful the few times I've seen him. He was pure hype.

And he's still head and shoulders above anyone else in the division, he beat Froch by a mile with one hand.

I'd love to see DeGale in with Froch or a Groves rematch.
