Strong fighter, good stamina and chin.
Not a big puncher, more of a wear you down type fighter. Keeps up a good work rate.

Whats Giovanni Alvarez like???

Always difficult fighting away from home without a KO punch..but he beat Lakatus on home turf

I saw Elvis fight once, I seem to recall him giving Oboh quite a lot of problems before he got worn down late.

Alvarez is an ok fighter. He is not very good at anything but he has good allround skills. His best fight so far was vs Paolo Ferrera for the vacant EU belt. He paced himself good which many people didnt think he could. He also kept his head cool eventhough he got a "Rahman lump" in the first round.

The title is listed as vacant on WBAs site so I guess so. This fight will be over 12 rounds and I think that will give Alvarez an advantage. In their first fight Michailenko probably would have been KOed if it was a 12 rounder. If Alvarez wins it will exciting to see if Oboh can make it 3 out of 3 against scandinavians. He has already Koed Ole Klemetsen and Thomas Hansvoll.

Just spoke to Roy at the peacock (who is Elvis's agent) and he knows nothing about this fight at all.... Elvis is meant to be fighting in Latvia in 3 weeks...

This is copied from WBA europes site:
London based ELVIS MICHAILENKO will face on mid September Swedish GIOVANNI ALVAREZ for the vacant WBA International Light Heavyweight Title (175 lbs.). This will be as rematch of their recent contest held in Copenhagen where Elvis defeated Giovanni on a very close point decision and after the fight it was discovered the Swedish had a broken knuckle. The winner of this Championship should then face British, Commonwealth and also former WBA International Champion PETER OBOH.

seems very strange that everyone seems to know about the fight except Elvis ;-)

And WTF is Oboh doing waiting to fight the winner.... he needs to tell Dean Powell to get off his arse and get him a fight that will further his career

After I read the Ulrich thread I remembered something. Saturdays fight between Ulrich & Branco was also for the WBA intl belt, I wonder if WBA know what they are doing.
