Braehmer v Maccarinnelli

So is anyone giving Enzo much of a chance of upsetting Braehmer this Saturday and becoming a 2 weight World champ?

We all know its a paper title that Juergen holds but if everyone(Sky) is claiming Quigg to be a World champ then i suppose Big Macc will be if he wins in Germany

And i have a sneaky feeling Enzo can pull it off,its a massive ask especially in the Fatherland but I'm not a big fan of Braehmer and i've seen him a few times now,I reckon Enzo can put him down a couple times to get it on points,Juergen is a whinger and Enzo will make him feel his power and the champ wont fancy it

C'mon Enzo lad :bag:

I think at his best he's capable of pulling it off, but Enzo can be unpredictable at times. While it is the 'regular' belt, it's not really the same situation as Quigg, where the real champion is clearly better than him, in this case it's Shumenov, who I don't really consider to be 'super' champion, because he was upgraded after not defending the title for 18 months and he hasn't really fought any reputable opposition since Campillo, who could have got the decision in both fights, rather than just the first, in all honesty, Shumenov should have been stripped, making this fight for the real? WBA title, but he wasn't, so it's not easy to judge.

Enzo is terribly vulnerable. I think the ref will step in early. 3 rounds.

Enzo's best hope is a shoot out. Yes, he will probably get knocked out, but he is a serious banger himself, world class even, and could hit the jackpot.

Braehmer has suspect stamina and chin. I've seen him wobbled and struggle with his stamina in fights. Enzo has a real chance here.

This is a really interesting fight. I can't believe Enzo is still managing to pull fights out of the bag, two years ago he looked a broken fighter. Against a world class banger I'd genuinely fear for his health but against Brahmer I really don't know. Good luck Enzo, would be a great swansong. :box:

S'a bit like saying "Which would you prefer, a shite sandwich or shite-in-a-pita?"

But they're probably both equal in terms of hoodwinking the public, um, I mean, "potential earnings value & brand-building recognition".

Look at the legions of defensive dudes on here who throw a rattle out the pram when you talk about who is the actual champion of the world at super-bantamweight...

Props to Enzo. He's gone from 'he should retire, he has no chance of passing domestic level, he's getting KOd by guys who would've been sparrring partners'... to being on the brink of a world title. That takes a lot of heart and determination

Best of luck to Enzo and I think he can win; he hits hard, comes to fight and will be in good shape, he has an excellent trainer. He is not massively vulnerable, he has boxed against some truely wicked punchers and been caught. He took some heavy hits from Ovill and Fry and came through so light heavy may be the right weight for him. I'm looking forward to watching but won't jinx him by putting a quid on.

I think Enzo can beat him, but it'll have to be by KO. He better not stand in the corner and cover up as the ref will stop it as soon as he has the chance and nobody will complain, as Enzo has been hurt before etc.

I agree with this.

Southpaw, experienced, rounded skills, can hit a bit, fighting at home.

It's difficult to see a route to victory for Enzo apart from the old 'Bingo' punch here.

Incidentally, Saulerland's previous fighter to knock out Big Mac never boxed again after that.

Despite being 22-0, Alexander Frenkel retired afterwards citing burnout and deep depression. He would have been good to track down for the recent Boxing & Depression articles that were published lately.

When has Braehmer showed a suspect chin?

Braehmer's got to be a heavy favourite and this is Enzo's final shot at anything resembling the big time; however Enzo does have fight-changing power and perhaps as this is Last Chance Saloon time he will just go for it.

After that horrid run of form where Enzo was in danger of slipping into gatekeeper status he has stablised things and seems more focussed and Gary Lockett seems to have him on an even keel again both physically and mentally.

One big, clean and early punch from Enzo could really upset Braehmer and make the fight interesting.....I'd love to see it happen as Braehmer seems to be a bit of a tool and Big Mac is a good guy.

I thought he was hurt in the last round of his last fight and in survival mode for the second half of the round, doing a lot of whinging to the referee.

A lot gets made about Enzo's chin but to be fair to him,its all massive punchers who KO him yet he's still willing to fight anyone regardless of their power, you have to knock him clean out to keep him down coz he'll just keep trying to continue even when his legs and head are totally scrambled,he does seem to have at least one scare every fight but its usually only the top fighters who keep him hurt

If you were to add up all the KO wins combined from every fighters opponents records,Enzo's opponents must be up there with the highest,Braehmer's feather-fisted compared to Maccarinelli's usual foe's

Big Shane is hardly a world class puncher, but Enzo needed a short round to survive. Braehmer is better in every way than McPhilbin. It's not impossible for Enzo to win, but I see him getting outhustled over the distance. There'll be no fire fight, in my opinion.

Enzo could have been left in a very serious state after the Frenkel KO. That was just one of a number of bad KO's he's had. You have to respect a guy who puts himself on the line time after time. He is starting to play russian roulette with his health though. If he sustains another bad KO here, I really do hope he retires.
