I don't mind Danny Dyer. Find him quite funny. I think it's nice to get non boxers on occasionally.

I don't mind him and he is funny but there are plenty of people that've been involved in boxing at amateur level or in the pro's that have very little recognition and I imagine it'd be a real highlight for one of them to come to a studio, get some scran paid for, bit of expenses and people making a fuss of them for a day. Dyer gets that every day of his life and knows less about boxing than my cat.

Yep I used to think tool but since seeing him on few things, celebrity juice especially he comes across well. I assumed he took himself seriously but actually he can laugh at himself so I got him all wrong. Nothing wrong with having celebrities on these things. It's not as if the boxers are terribly good is it? Nelson for instance?

The boxers know a fair bit about the sport they've been at for 30 odd years. Danny may pop up in a documentary about the threat to the British pub because he's been in the Queen Vic 6 months. Every other program on telly is chock full of celebs - I'd like to see Peter Buckley on Ringside - let him have a pamper day at the studio.

I hear you. But a lot of boxers come across terrible on TV and some of them are painful as they answer with one word answers. They could have all the stories and boxing knowledge in the world but if they are hard work on TV you are better of having a Danny Dyer in to at least make it a little entertaining now and again.

I don't doubt that palooka... I don't think it harms either to have a celeb fan of the sport on from time to time. I agree Buckley would be good or any journeyman to be honest, they've deifnitely earnt it.

On a separate note, has anyone ever put 'Richard & Judy Couch' into google images and seen what comes up?

Boxing is dying, I don't doubt that now. Froch v Groves is very much the exception. The majority of shows are poor.

Weren't there other cast members on there as well actually boxing? It's not like it was just him. Didn't it have an east end theme covering the peacock etc?

I'm from Doncaster and without trying can think of 5 or 6 people from Canning Town or who trained at The Peacock who would enjoy a nice day in the studio all expenses paid and a little recognition on a 'trade'/boxing show.

I've got absolutely nothing against getting celebs on these shows from time to time, better than some of the boxers they get on who have little media skills and aren't always particularly engaging personalities. Boxing needs to lighten its mood a bit rather than be like a closed club 'for the old boys' which is how it comes across sometimes, especially when it's smug Nelson who can't present to save his life.

Yeh i guess, but i suppose its a bit of exposure for both Danny Dyer and also the show, agree with you though

He was there to hype Froch-Groves to the casuals who have never heard of The Peacock. The type who will accidentally watch Ringside tonight on Sky2 at 11pm.

I think thats a bit silly really, if exposure is what it needs then why not?

if we need a wider audience to get money back into the sport...why not?

What exactly did you not like about it?

if the people that (sadly) watch eastenders then tune into Ringside because Danny Dyer is appearing on it...surely that gets boxing out there a bit more,

I wish more 'celebreties' would appear.......why not?
