In the commonwealth games final, I would understand if it was a schoolboy bout or junior but a senior fight? How did the quality smith lose to average Gallagher? Smith looks set for world level and Gallagher won't even win a English title he looked garbage, was smith sick or injured? Terrible loss especially one in a commonwealth games final that should of been easy work for smith

Really though, why is it a 'terrible' loss? I can't imagine he is losing much sleep over it. I also wouldn't bin Gallagher off because you didn't think he was great in Prize fighter, he dropped Ochieng didn't he? Not an easy fighter to floor.

Gallagher is very average two defeats in one night in a prize fighter says it all for me, and am just very surprised he managed to trouble smith

Two different sports, so many examples of fighters maturing at different times and the kid who loses out as an amateur surpasses his conquerors achievements as a pro. I saw Callum lose in sheffield a few year bk, maybe 16? And he looked ordinary that night but as you say he looks Sumat special now.

A good point.

An example I often think of here is Miguel Cotto v Abdullaev

Watch their amateur match in the Olympics and then watch their meeting in the pros.

2 different worlds with 2 fighters at different stages of maturity/development

Saturday was the first time i'd seen Gallagher i'm sure,he must be one of the most reckless fighters iv'e ever seen  Surely thats not his usual style, did he just go into PF thinking "fvck it,lets do it"

I will say one thing though, man is he one tough SOB,cant wait to see him again, flaws and all :box:

I can see why Gallagher done well in the ams, abit like o'kane did, but I also struggle to see how he got a win over smith! It was a split & it can boil down to venue or weight struggle with smith not being right
