Why did Vince Phillips pull out of the Vilches fight?

Carlos Vilches was set to face Vince Phillips in the States in 2002 but pulled out just two days before the fight. Emanuel Augustus stepped in - and beat Vilches (cuts).
Does anyone know why "Cool" pulled out?

Phillips was obviously scared of the powerful combinations Vilches can throw.
