Yes, because WBC interim sliver youth belts are just soooo good!

To answer the question, inter-continental is the second tier belt, whilst the international is third tier

In the end, the fights make the belt, no matter what organisation you are under. And Goodwin v Fagan was an absolute war...gone down a treat in the Irish websites! Made for TV fight!

At least the WBC belts get you a ranking with them, who wants to be ranked by the WBF? The first tier belt is worthless, so what does that make the second and third tier belts?

I was at show thought Goodwin v fagan was brill! A total war and Counihan was good aswell!
I thought it was a good show!

Do you want to get into a debate about sanctioning bodies??? I think the fact that even most boxing fans don't know who an organisations champion is, with all the layer of belts, then all credibility is shot anyway, no matter of any history

They were both good fights though

They arnt advertised as anything they arnt, it would be different if you said it was WBC title and then the WBF turn up instead.

Worthless to who? Both boxers are delighted with their little belts, something nice to put on the mantlepiece when they retire.

It was licensed by the GBA, Lee Murtagh who was working Fagan's corner does an article in a free magazine we get round where I live and he confirmed that in it.

White collar/semi-pro undercard with 3 pro fights wasn’t it?

Why wont the BBBoC allow that sort of arrangement? Happens a lot in Europe e.g. France and Spain.

Why wont the BBBoC allow that sort of arrangement? Happens a lot in Europe e.g. France and Spain.

This is the only way that a small promoter can make it pay - mix up "pro", with amateur boxing and maybe other disciplines such as kick boxing.

At the end of the day, the promoter needs bums on seats.

I wonder what the BBBofC regulation is (or even if one exists) ?

A few years ago their opinion was that amateurs and pros should never mix. Then came along the Amir Khan / Kindelan amateur fight.

A leading promoter was going to promote more pro/am shows (with the full support of the BBBofC) until Khan then turned pro and nothing else was heard !

Hopefully the board would allow it, great exposure for the amateurs on the bill and the promoters gets extra ticket sales, without the extra costs, everyone's a winner.

That is my point - why wouldn't they allow it ?

They have allowed it before, why not now ?

What is the Rule/regulation - does one exist ? - if so, did it exist previously ? etc. etc.

Has anyone tried to put on a show like that? I doubt there's anything in the rules regarding this sort of thing and it would probably be down to the board's discretion, I can understand them not wanting kickboxing and other sports on there, but the amateur boxers of today are the professionals of tomorrow, working with professional promoters and managers can only be good for them.

I attempted it, told the area council secretary of my plans and was informed it would not be permitted.

Unfortunately we are In a small city with only a couple of pro boxers, the format I ran on Saturday night works for us. Every person fighting on my show was fully medicaled and insured for personal injury (yes, the semi pros as well) full eye tests and medicals performed by doctors. The semi pro boxing was overseen to pro standards by gba inspectors and refs.

Paul Economides v David Kanalas for the WBF intercontinental title? What a joke, I have seen Kanalas on a few occasions and he is awful, before this fight he had already lost 10 times, 9 by stoppage all in the first 4 rounds! How can the WBF sanction this as some sort of title fight?

Well the WBA allowed him to fight for their third tier title (international belt) last April

Sorry mate, not wanting to slag your promotion, I know it's takes a lot of time and effort to put a show together. Just my feelings on having seen Kanalas before, I think Paul is much better than that, as he proved.
