I would approach shane mcguigan, hehas done so much for the jackal, and knows strength and conditioning very well! Ricky burns could do with some explosive power to addto his armoury!! Its a no brainer for me!!

There's alot of talented trainers on this shore, its who ever Ricky feels good with i guess, they are not going to be able to change that much about Ricky's style now.

Ricky likes his home comforts so it's a hard one. Is he at the stage of his of his career that he wants to reinvent himself and move 100's of miles away from home and start again? Not sure he does, in fact it could do more damage.

Perhaps get back with Billy but bring in another trainer into the camp if he wants some kind of a change...

This makes sense day to day with Billy and locate south nearer (with Billy too) fight time. I think something had to change as Burns has looked stale for ages. I hope Billy realises this isn't on him predominantly, Burns needs to take responsibility also. Personally I would look to work with Adam Booth if possible. This is, if all parties agree.

If he's insistent on staying in the UK then Adam Booth would be a good fit IMO.

I may be in the minority but I don't rate Booth as a great trainer. Great manager yes, but in terms of improving a fighter technically I haven't seen anything to suggest he's strong in this area. Groves and Haye both have bundles of natural talent and were great amateurs. I can't see how he's done anything significant with them other than get them in good shape.

yes I agree he is a touch over rated, as not improved Andy Lee much, in fact he appears to be going downhill, if his last close decision win over french welter Horta is anything to go by and remember Groves left him, whilst in training for a world title fight.

Am I a complete idiot or would Booth be the worst choice possible? He needs someone who can stick to what Burns is, a technically schooled fighter. Booth is great if you're naturally heavy handed but Burns aint that type of fighter.

Though that could mean that Booth is not willing to alter his method for a boxer. does it show confidence or chutzpah?

Really don't think this will suit him, don't rate Sims as a trainer anyway, but can you imagine anyone more out of place in Essex than Ricky Burns?

That's exactly who Billy said last week that he would recommend to Ricky as his new trainer, that would be an interesting choice but I think Ricky will give Tony Sims the chance for a fight or 2 before maybe even going back to Billy and I'm sure Billy would welcome him back with open arms!!
