RIP Mr May

There was a fantastic interview in Boxing News a few years ago with him and he seemed a good character. He ran a really successful gym for years and years and guided some real quality boxers; I imagine the training and discipline kept a lot of lads going off the rails in a big way.

Rest in peace Mickey - you will be sorely missed

The type of man that makes the sport IMO.

It would cease to exist without the trainers in the amateur clubs giving up their time and in plenty of cases, dedicating their lives to the gym and those that walk through the doors.

Only met mickey once when we were in opposing corners nabc final at Blackpool, to us it was a really big deal but west ham also had duds o'shaunessy as well same nite anyway we nicked the closest verdict and mickeys man shed a few tears n got a little loud but mickey gave him a sharp rebuke about being a man etc and he soon fixed up. Had a chat wi him after n he wa quality, rip mr may. X
