Good post! I've thought about this before I like both but jlj for me.

They're both boxing icons but I just slightly favour Jimmy Lennon Jr. Both are light years from John 'Raaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrr' McDonald and Stewpot from Grange Hill/Kev from the Bev and Kev adverts.

You would think that there would be somebody amazing at it too. Surely somewhere, you would only have to hold auditions.

JLJ is a class act. Streets ahead of stupot, growler and the import yank.

Growler's "Fight night LIVE" along with the whispered high speed corner intro does my nut in.

Not an easy job by any stretch but JLJ brings an authentic touch of occasion to proceedings.

When I was a teenager I thought Buffer was amazing & loved his "let's get ready to rumble" catchphrase, but now I find him quite annoying & OTT, he's almost a parody of himself these days, especially when he's brought in for small fights just to add an element of 'glamour'.

JLJ all day long for me now, I like the way he's pretty no-frills & down to business.

Although actually there's very few ring announcers I don't like, it's the sodding national anthems that really grind my gears & get me hurling abuse at the TV.

Now that Mayweather and Golden boy are on Showtime JLJ will be getting much of the big gigs.

It should be Buffer unanimously. Lennon Jr. is poor mans Lennon Sr. and Lennon Sr was an overrated announcer
