Aba's televised?

Sorry if it's already been covered but does anyone know if it's being televised and if so which channel?
They will have needed Matchrooms approval for the Sky link up. Shouldn't have been hard to get, with Froch training there. It really is Matchroom ABC.The_Don1 wrote:It's a shame Matchroom aren't promoting the ABA's otherwise the whole event would've been shown live.

It's mutually beneficial and the only way Rob can do both.palooka wrote:mickey1975 wrote:They will have needed Matchrooms approval for the Sky link up. Funded by lottery money?
I mean more in the way Eddie had hardly anything to do with Haye-Fury but they went through him. As for Froch, to have a man of his experience, amateur and pro, around to talk to, spar and inspire the lads is worth so much more than his board and lodgings.dbf wrote:England boxing can't and won't outsource their flagship event to a professional promotional outfit. They probably charged sky a bit to show the highlights - they are in need of money and handing over one of their money earners wouldn't make sense.

It strikes me as naive to refer to GB boxers as amatuers. They are full time salaried professional athletes and I see no reason why a British boxer shouldnt make use of the facilities. Where I think there is conflict is the link between Froch and Mckracken, and the fact that Groves is not able to avail himself of the same facilities should he want to.dbf wrote:Don't agree. It's not right that a professional athlete is getting access to facilities (and other perks) that is paid for by lottery and exchequer funding exclusively for the use of GB Amateur (or Olympic style) boxers. I'm wonder if it has been handled officially by GB boxing and Froch?mickey1975 wrote:I mean more in the way Eddie had hardly anything to do with Haye-Fury but they went through him. That's a good point mickey but I'm with broomhall and dbf; there's no reason that Froch should be allowed to prosper from lottery funded professionals when other British pro boxers cannot. It may be above board but it doesn't look to be. If Groves needed extra help he'd have to pay for it, same for every other boxer.mickey1975 wrote:Could Rob do the job if the arrangement wasn't allowed. Carl fights twice a year, and if he's on anything like 10% it will be considerably more than his GB salary.

you and me both - I remember some real crackers at the ABA's back then. some top fighters tooBroomhall wrote:Such a shame no longer on terrestrial TV. When I was a kid even the amateurs where well known names. I can remember going to school and talking about guys like Magri, Cowdell after they had been on sportsnight.
And what about the ex-Olympians that are all making use of it - Ogogo, Campbell, Joshua - they are all up there now and then.palooka wrote:Though even if Froch were to pay for the services another boxer wouldn't be given the same access - because of McCrackens status. There is a real conflict of interest and it appears that taxpayers and lottery payers money is giving a highly paid professional athlete an advantage.
It looks like a clique, an exclusive enterprise payed for by other people.dbf wrote:And what about the ex-Olympians that are all making use of it - Ogogo, Campbell, Joshua - they are all up there now and then.palooka wrote:Though even if Froch were to pay for the services another boxer wouldn't be given the same access - because of McCrackens status. They, including Froch are all probably classed as 'world class sparring' and thats how they get away with it.
I don't think he's moaning now. But was that spar definitely in Sheffield? I had a feeling it was somewhere else.mickey1975 wrote:Groves wasn't moaning when he was up there sparring Carl himself.
