Khan-Collazo

It's the most intriguing fight of the weekend.

When it was first announced I thought it represented the best value boxing bet I've ever seen. I have continuously backed Collazo to win at 7/2, 10/3 & 3/1.

Now that it's fight week the inevitable nerves are starting to kick in as I consider the doubt over it. How good is Collazo? If you ignore the Hatton fight and the Ortiz win there isn't really much impressive about what he's done.

Shut out by Mosley, beaten by Berto and Freddy Hernandez.

What I do like is his activity (three fights in the last year while Khan has had just one a year ago), plus the fact that his recent KO win should give him the belief that he can bomb Khan out.

How much of a case can be made for Khan? He has never been the smartest inside or outside the ring. Can he stick to a gameplan through twelve rounds with a big strong Welter like Collazo? If he can then that seems to represent his best chance of victory.

Under Hunter he seems to have regressed. There wasn't much impressive about the Diaz and Molina wins and Khan has looked as fragile as ever when hit. Add in the inactivity, rumoured issues in his domestic private life, and disappointment of missing out on Mayweather, you have to wonder how ready he will be on his Welterweight debut.

Ok, think I've convinced myself again, Collazo it is.

He deserved the win against Berto aswell.

I don't see him bombing Khan out in sudden fashion but maybe dropping him a couple of times en route to a win by around the 8th. Amir will always be brave.

Amir is what he is. A tough all-rounder like Collazo will find the many chinks in his armour. I expect a strong start from Khan while Collazo feels him out. As the fight progresses, and Collazo starts to challenge him, and IQ, instinct and the ability to improvise under pressure become a factor, I expect King Khan will be violently deposed.

The more pertinent question might be: 'Who will Amir Khan blame for his loss to Collazo?'

Hunter? Mayweather? Goldenboy? Freddie Roach's Parkinson's? The man in the hat? Skype? Collazo?

That's about the only thing that is guaranteed. If Khan loses, he'll be blaming someone.

I think Khan wins fairly easily, controls the whole fight & stops Collazo with body shots somewhere in the mid rounds.

I dont see it. I can make the argument for Khan winning but I dont see him stopping Collazo. The last time Luis was stopped was 12 years ago and he's been in with the likes of Mosley and Hatton since. The latter a very good body puncher.

I know, mate. And Khan looked crap last time out.

I just have one of those feelings that Collazo's style will suit Khan down to the ground.

If Khan does lose as easily as many on here predicting then it's all over for him.

Khan's shots will bounce off Collazo.

I have a feeling Khan keeps his macho in and takes Collazo on points, In addition making Collazo miss badly at times.

I was pretty sure to begin with but after some more careful deliberation I am very, very confident about this one.

IF YOU ENJOY MONEY, I ARKS YOU TO DO THE RIGHT THING! BET ON COLLAZO!!!!

If I'd have put lots of money on Collazo, then the Kotelnik fight would make me slightly nervous.
Obviously ignoring size and stance, I'm a nervy person, they are both technical boxers, to a degree

But if I'd have put money on Khan, I'd be nervous that he hasn't looked able to box a controlled 12 rounds for years.
And has probably only actually managed it twice in his career

...Gairy St Clair in case you were wondering

Haha, the midget blown-up featherweight with silky-soft fists. An opponent fit for a King!

the senakster in me tips this one for the draw. Amir to take rounds close and Collazo to take some big rounds making people cry robbery .

Swing fight that i genuinely hope Amir wins.

Looking at this fight was his most recent bar the Ortiz victory, not sure what to think https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AshqqcdwBNI

Khan will win on points or late stoppage, far too fast for Collazo and his body is maturing now, he is looking much bigger, might even shock collazo early on, I remember the body shot he put tough man Maidana down with, some have forgotten that and his win against Judah another south paw, who can bang and who gave Mayweather nightmares in the first 6 rounds, Khan dominated him. Yes, some will say Khan is on the way out, the same who said the same after Prescott, then he went on to win world titles, Khan for me.

Khan hasn't looked good since his win over Judah; 3 years ago.

There's a chance Khan could find his form of old. But as the saying goes; "you're only as good as your last fight".

He is still young, even though it appears that he has been around a long time, 3 years is not a long time at that level, only 4 fights since, he has won two of them and many thought he beat Peterson, he did not look good against Mccloskey, then in his next fight was excellent against Judah, he blows hot and cold sometimes, it's about motivation and I think he will be motivated for this, if does not beat Collazo, there will be no where to go.

Will have to fight at a faster pace against Khan, he looks like a old man in there, can he go the sort of pace he did against hatton, right now ? I doubt it, seems to have lost something since ? Not as quick, work rate not as good, just plodding along, picking up points, against a poor opponent.
