Frampton has jumped a lot of places for beating a 36 year old light-flyweight.

For me Afolabi is too high and Frampton shouldn't be that much higher than Quigg. Not sure what basis you decide your P4P on but for me it's about if all fighters were at the same weight naturally, who would beat who. And in my opinion, Quigg beats Afolabi, Fury and Chisora. Brook and Gavin beat a few placed ahead of them as well. But no ones ever really going to agree on P4P listings!

Agreed, I just can't see any argument for Martin Murray being the current number 2 P4P fighter in Britain.

Yes.

Quigg hasn't proven enough. Frampton has a much better record.
Afolabi is a proven world level cruiserweight.

Murray and Afolabi too high, Chisora should not be ahead of Quigg, DeGale, McDonnell or Selby. Callum Smith would be in there already for me.

See this is where things get muddled up. You're going more on CV and achievements. I'm going on the basic concept of if all fighters were the same weight naturally, who would beat who? Achievements/CVs help predict if Fighter A beats Fighter B at Middleweight for example. However things get more complicated when bringing differing weights into the equation. For example Afolabi is 9 years older than Quigg and in arguably in easier division so of course he's mixed at top level more. Regardless of Afolabi mixing it at the top, I'd still pick Quigg to beat him if they were naturally the same weight, hence I'd put Quigg above him in my rankings. It's just my take on it.

Would you be saying that if Murray had been given the decision against Martinez?

mexicooo wrote:this is not the carl froch of 2 years ago. Comeon now, p4p khan pisses on him, and along with haye are the only logical people at number 1. Froch has poor skills, is slow, and a defence as leaky as san marino's back 4. The ONLY things that make him effective are is heart, chin, and power....in short he is a caveman approaching 40.....not a good look. Khan and haye are still relevant at world level, and as no other british fighter really operates there at the moment ( other than Frampton on a lower level, and quigg on a lower level than Frampton) its an open and shut case for me
Is this post a joke?

That seems to be the general consensus.

If Chisora loses clearly to Fury in July then he'll drop a few places.

Too unproven.

Yes I think I'd still say Murray was ranked too high. I didn't think he deserved the win against either Sturm or Martinez. He had a great opportunity against a rusty, injured Martinez but it was still Sergio who finished stronger & won the championship rounds.
Don't get me wrong, Murray is definitely in the top 10 British P4P, but I'd place him around 6-7 rather than 2. Who's his best win over? I can't actually remember (off the top of my head) Murray having a win over a genuine world level opponent.

I'd agree with that

Murray ought to be at the same level as Macklin and a fight between those 2 would be very edgy, they are very close in ability and power. If Murray faced Golovkin he'd be beaten the same.

Achievements are more important than perceived ability in my opinion.
If a fighter is talented then they should prove it by beating good opponents.

Then who's Murray beaten (or Afolabi) to be rated so high? Not draws or contentious losses, wins.

In what way was Martinez rusty? He hadn't been inactive for a long period before their fight.

He beat Martinez and Sturm on my scorecards.
Why are so many people obsessed with the opinions of judges?
