Katsidis should stop Earl in 1 then hopefully it's over for both of them as far as fighting goes.

Hoping this will just be a glorified sparring session. Can't really understand why some people have been so keen to get this rematch on, is it something anyone wants to see?

Never understood anyone wanting to watch these Maske v Hill, Fenech v Nelson type rematches years later. Especially when a guy like Earl has never been more than a decent domestic class boxer who had looked dangerously shot in his last fights

Yep I was never Keen on a Bhop-Jones Jr rematch after Jones had been beaten easily a few times. Just a name vs a name

"Yeah well since the first war I've prepared for the rematch by getting knocked out in the first round twice & then beating a bloke with a 16-125-7 record. But I've had a 1,832 day training camp so I'm raring to go."

... i'm guessing they're going to sell it purely on the back of the exciting nature of the first encounter. That's ignoring the fact that they're both completely shot to pieces now.

Whilst I concur that the Leonard-Hearns rematch was pretty tasty, they were both champs in the same division (though Tommy got stripped iirc), they weren't both coming off horrendous shellackings/long periods of absence from the ring, & more importantly they were both the right side of forty. However, this part of your post made me piss myself laughing. Giving the matter more thought than it perhaps deserves, it occurs to me I'd be tempted to fork over money for a PPV if a mush turned up at a press conference for a high-ish profile fight & sat there going "Well, I'm only here for the money, really, my missus has taken me for all I had, & I've spent the last of my fortune on cheap cocaine & expensive hookers, & now I need some money to pay to get my monkey back out of escrow."

I often wonder if there is another sport which makes its competitors such tragic figures. So many of these guys end up broke and with dementia or some other brain injury.

He recently fought an Indonesian "bum" called Eddy Comaro. Comaro was a hand picked fighter who didn't have much power (11 KO's in around 50 bouts) and had won just 2 of his previous 9.

Whether he should be in the ring is a different matter though.

My Hearns Leonard rematch was in response to 'Lenny' typing this "Never understood anyone wanting to watch these Maske v Hill, Fenech v Nelson type rematches years later.".

I wasn't comparing it to this particular bout. Just mentioning that the Hearns Leonard rematch was a good one.

Of course, Leonard is in many peoples Top Ten P4P & Hearns in many peoples Top Ten P4P Exciting list.

Katsidis is definitely my favourite fighter named Katsidis and Graham Earl has had that amazing training camp so.......

Professional sportsmen/women in general quite often seem to end up in a shitty situation at some point after their careers are over. I read the other day that ex cricketers have the highest rate of suicide amongst athletes. That was pretty surprising. I wonder why that is.

I think Earl needs the fight for his own piece of mind. I think the stoppage grates him and he needs closure. Hopefully the fight will be decisive either way so Earl can have closure.
