Michael Jennings on Saturday....

....takes on tough Polish Welter Rafal Jackiewicz.
Most Brit's won't have seen Rafal (Check my other topic for a look at him beating Allan Vester three rounds sooner than Judah*) but don't let that mask the fact that this is a good little test for "The Lurcher". Should be a decent fight.
What do you reckon?

I think Michael will move round and jab his head off for the full 10 rounds. Good opportunity for him to showcase his skills again.
Catch you all later.

Been away, FG - haven't seen you around in a while?

Yes, good to see Jimmy back.
Jennings looked excellent in his last two outings and shouldn't lose to the tough Pole. There was talk of a domestic showdown for Jennings on Saturday but the fact they had to eventually bring in an overseas guy shows you how hard it is to match him. They have to bide their time with him anyway, given his stablemate is David Barnes. They'll let Barnes vacate after he wins a Lonsdale Belt outright and Jennings will fight for the vacant title.

I've been saying it for 2 years now.
Michael is the best Manchester prospect.
Warren should open his eyes and smell the coffee.
He should be highly profiled.

Read this post and have a look at his pictures. I've chored it from the Current Forum, it's a good little insight into the Pole.

Aren't you Jenning's secret spy trying to find out more about Rafal before they fight each other this Saturday?
Jackiewicz is very good although he fights one style only - stay close to the oppnent wtih closed guard, head forward, duck, throw counterhooks and uppercuts. But he does it very well, especially considering he was almost dead like 2 years ago when he got stabbed in his hear (you can still see the scar).
EXTREMELY tough mofo and quite smart I hear. He works hard, too.
His weakness is that he can be outpointed by a jabber with good footwork.
Check out some of his photos I did.

Jennings is a quality fighter and very pleasing on the eye to watch. Not a great deal of power but a great work rate and tidy style.
Its good to see they are putting him in with a decent test, I still think they need to step him up though.

I rate Jennings. He's got a good future, though I must admit I know nowt about this Pole.

He gave a good account of himself, Kaliber44. Rafal was never on the verge of getting stopped (Jennings doesn't seem to hit that hard) and was basically out-worked by Jennings.

Yes, the Pole was tough and spirited. Jennings was busy and quick-handed but never looked like budging your man. Good fight.

I think it was late in the 6th when Jennings looked to be getting home with nearly every shot he threw. I wondered if his opponent would wilt, but to be fair he saw that round out, and came out for the 7th and 8th in pretty good shape.
If Jennings can mantain his work rate, accuracy and speed for 12 rounds, he is going to trouble a lot of fighters.
On the downside he did get tagged a few times by punches he shoulda seen coming, that might be a worry when he steps up to the next level.

Very impressed with Jennings, he looked classy. My only major concern is his punch power. I think he is ready for David Barnes now. I think he will beat him.
That would be a great fight, but it will probably be for a another day.

Dont think the Barnes v Jennings fight will happen as they are both from the same gym.

Yip lovely boxer, great handspeed and movement, lacks pwer to get past a European / alphabet title shot.
Doubt he would fight barnes as stated they are stablemates, Vincent could give hima few probs though and would be pumped as a return with Barnes should he won would be on the cards (at long last)
