Brook vs Porter purse bid deadline

May 21st is the day I believe it goes to purse bids.
But porter is now sounding off he will not come to the UK (well his dad is sounding this off anyway)
Nobody knew or cared before he fought Alexander and now he is being a primadonna , saying it must be in the US.
I think Schaeffer ruled out it being on the Canelo undercard.
I sense porter will pull out injured if the sky machine put some big digits in a UK offer and win this. Poor form for a champion if he does so.
I wonder if he drops the IBF and sniffs around the WBA belt dropped by Maidana?
Thinking beyond Froch Groves, the best fight these shores have lined up is Brook vs Khan or Brook vs Porter. I hope the Wembley show injects some sky funds into offers no opponent can refuse.
Can Brook Khan fill a stadium too ?

The Sky machine may be just a small player when faced with Porters big machine backing.

No one cared about Porter before he beat Alexander...a man Khan and Brook had opportunities to fight... interesting.

Everything I have heard from Schaeffer makes me feel that there is no way this fight happens before its deadline.
Injury ahoy, Hearn even mentioned it a couple interviews ago.
It seems inevitable this happens later than expected.

Care to elaborate or just to insinuate.

I doubt it fills a stadium ever really Froch Groves 1 wouldn't have IMO.
But a tasty rematch always puts bums on seats.
Froch has a bigger following than Khan and is quality value takes and gives a great shot.
Khan has shown that style cant work for him and the masses want to see a trade fight.
Groves following is growing because of his style.
In comparison Brooks and it pains me to say it at this stage is max 9000.
Given you around 55000 to make it worth while it will struggle unless its really built Kell needs a title for this to be really big.

Not sure on that Froch didn't have a massive following as such before the hype machine of sky went massive on the kessler and groves fights. Even under Hearn I remember Bute fight not completely selling out 9000 until the day. (I had to let a ticket go at a loss now I've got loads of people asking me if I can get them tickets for Wembley)

May 21 is just 8 weeks before the deadline, so they will get a week to decide a venue then it's 7 weeks. So no chance it happens in July. Sky won't want it in August as they have no shows planned then, so it rolls on to a crowded September. Maybe it will get on Mayweather's next undercard?

Hearn needs to stay strong and not get pushed around here. They've known the date for a long time and let Porter take the Paulie fight, if Porter wont take the fight he should be stripped

Brook v Dan Ion for the vacant title seems like an Eddie dream, but doesn't exactly set the pulses racing.

Hold on; how many British champions go abroad to defend their titles? Porter is the champion, he'd be stupid to come over here with some of the decisions that go on. If Brook wants the title he'll have to go over there and take it. Imagine if it was Brook the champion and Porter the challenger, do you imagine for a minute that Brook would fly across the Atlantic to defend?

If he does lose the purse bid though, he'll be handsomely rewarded for the risk. If he drops the title to avoid travelling, he's going to get stick like a British fighter would.

I'd hope he was handsomely rewarded for the risk; he ought to have a word with that Beltran fellow who boxed Burns before he gets on a plane.

Froch did, but that's more because nobody over here wanted him.

I had Froch in mind as I typed it mickey and thought it was because he was in the Super Six thing; I can't think of many more. If I'm honest I don't think it'll matter a great deal where the bout is held but if Porter does throw a sick note in rather than travel it's the British Judges and promotional outfits that have power that ought to feel responsible. Brook needs his chance soon or the year will have been and gone with no progress at all.

The Taylor fight wasn't in The Super Six. They just could not sell it over here and ended up setting up a PPV stream. ITV showed it a week later after it's thrilling ending.

Wasn't Taylor-Froch just one of those fights where a star (Taylor) gets served a champion everyone thinks he can beat easily? So US TV invests in the fight to get their man a belt.

If Eddie wins the bid and porter doesn't come...then it's Porter who should take the blame. plenty of poor decisions and dodgy refereeing on both sides on the pond.

It won't go to purse bids. Would suit Eddie fine if it ended up on a big show in the US, so Sky do some overblown on the road production with the bonus of at least one more big fight on the bill. Sky just won't want it ending up somewhere like Foxwoods. Will probably end up as a summer show in Atlantic City.

Is there anyway Floyd could drop the WBA or WBC belt which free's up say Thurman and Porter to fight a unification?

What will be will be.
However lets just make it clear that everything imaginable is being done by the UK side of this so please all you Brook haters I hope you dish out a healthy serving to Porter if there are any ghosts in the machine.
The fight has to take place by 19/7.
However if agreement is reached then the IBF will apply a little flexibility on the date - as they did with 31/5.
