Is it only 2 weeks tomorrow for the big fight? Any credible rumours flying around who Joshua will be fighting on the bill?

There was talk of Jason Gavern a little while back from the man himself. Dont know if that's legit though.

2 weeks to go and you would think there would have been a name popping up. Surely his management would have picked an opponent weeks ago so Joshua can study how he is going to fight. Surely not a late fighter to put a stick in the spokes!

Will he even end up fighting?

He should be taking a step up, but that's not looking that likely now.

I thought he'd taken some time out to heal up and will probably fight a journeyman just to keep him ticking over.

I'm talking about how some people want Joshua to step up his level of competition without realising there's a very small amount of 'competition' at the trial horse level of boxing who want the fight, don't ask unreasonable money, and can represent a good challenge on this mythical but much-vaunted 'sustainable trajectory of improvement'.

It would be nice to see a Vinny Maddalone level guy, but anyone similar to the last guy is fine by me.

Yeah but there is guys out there like Sexton, Skelton and co who he could easily deal with already I think.

You're right, so why have him in with people who most decent prospects would make look like knock over jobs too? If someone like Tom Schwarz or Adrian Granat would beat then there is no point having Joshua in with them.

How about Mike Mollo? Damian Wills? Kretschmann? Joey Dawejko?

Plenty of options out there if you're willing to pay rather than let him take out "the usual suspects" ...

In 6 months the winner of Mickael Vieira/Francesco Pianeta wouldn't be an awful option if Joshua is as good as people believe

My point is that since Joshua is likely going to bowl over the guys in the 80-100 range as quick as the 150-200 range and people will still be saying 'Oh he needs to step it up', his role should be to keep busy and get a lot of fights in to market himself and get people talking.

There is plenty of time for him to face better guys down the line, he could fight another four or five of Avila-level guys and win the British title after that and it would be good progress as far as I'm concerned.
