Anthony Joshua will take on Matt Legg to kick off the biggest night in British boxing at Wembley on May 31.

The Olympic gold medallist is the first fighter on the card of Froch v Groves II: Unfinished Business, on May 31, live and exclusive on Sky Sports Box Office.

Joshua's fight will also be screened live on Sky Sports 1 early that evening and he is promising to start things off with a stunning knockout, following Legg's confirmation as opponent.
Awful opponent for Joshua.

Legg was stopped in 2 rounds by a guy with 7 wins and 40 losses (23 by KO)

Is this really the standard an olypic gold Medallist should be fighting at in his 6th pro outing on an 80,000 capcity bill?

It`s not even a fight is it? A round or two at most. Terrible stuff.

What is the full undercard again?

Degale is in a decent fight, Mitchell is by all accounts in against a live wire. What else do we have?

Joshua's fighting his weakest/2nd weakest opponent so far on a PPV show.

He's been destroying his opponents so far. So why fight someone at a lower level than that?

Why is Hearn doing this?

Matt Legg is ranked 30th out of 39 at heavyweight in Britain by BoxRec.

Does anyone remember Frank Bruno knocking over all that opposition and then coming unstuck-and Bruno wasnt "chinny" he just never learned how to cope with difficult situations. He never developed the confidence that goes from beating decent opposition. Why do promoters keep going down this pointless road?

He'd be better off doing some hard sparring in Germany than wasting his time with this fight, nothing will be learned.

I think it's sweepstake time, name the time in the first round the fight ends at, I'll go with 1:47.

I'm a big Joshua fan but this guy sure does look like a scrub.

Anyway, a quick, lethal 1-round KO in front of a hell of a lot of people isn't going to hurt him.

I doubt there will be more than 4,000 people in that long before the main event.

awful awful matchmaking........... i think that a certain mr hughes should have been the opponent, he is big, a bit awkward, can punch a bit, reasonable jab, and just gone 8 with hughie fury.

Danny Hughes would have been a better bet for sure. This is a very poor opponent for Joshua.

I'm a fan but this is disappointing.

I imagine they're probably finding it hard to match him. Any half decent opponents will want good money or a title before fighting Joshua I'd have thought. Fair enough considering they're most likely going to get banged out. Only disappointment for me is that he's on first. Hardly anyone will be there!

The DeGale and Mitchell fights are genuinely good match-ups.

At the moment the undercard is:
Degale v Gonzales
Mitchell v Maduma
McDonnell v Rachawat
Joshua v Legg

Does anyone know if there's more people lined up and who?

It's on a PPV show though so they cant really complain too much about the cost of an opponent.

It'll be paranoia as much as cost. He's still raw and not hard to hit, the fear of him being whoopsie-daisy-starched will not be insignificant.

Yeah but he's supposed to this super talent ffs lol. Of course noone expects him to go in with world class fighters now but he's good enough to be fighting the likes of Sexton, etc, now IMO.

Have we got any grasses on the forum. I used to have a good handle on the heavyweight scene but I know nothing now. Who's he been sparring, how's he been getting on, etc..?

Don't be silly he's only in his 6th fight. We need to build him slowly! Super talent or not we can't rush talent, we all know that fighters can't face real threats this early in their career in case they lose!

Not even super talents like Naoya Inoue face world level fighters in their 6th bout...oh wait...

Kosei Tanaka in his first 2 fights has faced 2 world ranked fighters, Takume Inoue fought a fighter ranked by all 4 bodies in his second fight.

Oh what do the likes of Ohashi gym know about bringing through super talents!
