Think he will make some money with this signing as they will put him in with Kessler but I'm not sure if it will be good in the long run, time will tell.

I think its good that a British fighter of George's calibre has signed with someone other than Matchroom as their monopoly is not healthy for the sport now.IMO
I think Sky like Groves and if it means they look at showing some other people's shows that will be a winner all round.
They seem likeable and a fight with Sturm would be a bonus if they could make that.

Is Sturm moving up? They do seem likeable, like you say it's good to break a monopoly. And its infinitely better than Warren.

It makes no sense to sign two Brits back to back, who are both coming off two stoppage losses apiece.

They are educated guys, the Sauerlands - and I hope they haven't bought stock when it's at an all-time high, because it will plummet come 10.30pm on Saturday 31st May.

I'm sure Sturm is independant from Saeurland and has he own TV deal in Germany which is huge. Hence why Barker got 1mill euros.

Also doubt he would ever move up to Super Middle.

Undecided, it depends whether he wins or not against Froch. If he wins he can go straight into a couple of big money fights, but if he looses they will no doubt have him sparking out bums for a few months before they can put him in a big fight. Strange timing by the Sauerland boys, really.

I'd have thought a fight with Ward would follow within a year at most if Groves beats Froch. Defence against Degale then unification with Ward (although of course Groves may want to milk the belt first for 2 or 3 defences).

IMO he should have taken his time and made the decision after the fight. Froch could have well retired and George vs DeGale is a huge fight. Eddie might look to guide James down another route now.

when i've seen groves and eddie hearn together they seemed to get on well and i was sure groves would of signed with hearn if he beat froch ....

maybe it hints at a lack of GG confidence, as its a bit of an insurance policy if it goes tits up against Froch. If he was confident of winning you'd think he'd remain independent?

Surely the DeGale fight would be a bigger money fight. Look how sky and matchroom have been able to sell this rematch because of a slightly early stoppage. They'd be able to convince the general public that their first fight was a wrong decision and getting them to part with their hard earned again. The pair of them would be happy to spend time in front of the cameras too.

All a side story though as Groves is getting sparked

Bigger in what sense? In terms of publicity and size, it matters more about whether they capture the imagination than what those opponents have achieved. DeGale would be a bigger fight than all 3.

The more I think about it this is a massive own goal by George he could have been the next PPV star in Britain. Will any of his fans go over to Germany to watch him fight!! As for fighting Sturm really??

I'd have thought his promoters would be able to organise a fight or 2 in Britain and it may be that US promoters and TV stations would prefer to work with the Sauerlands?

Fantastic move by GG the Sauerland boys work with everyone and that in itself is huge
The list of potential fights for him should he beat Carl Froch is endless and hopefully it makes him a wealthy young man
