It's his Grandad I think, and Fury's.

Talking of the Fury's. How many brothers and sisters does Tyson have? There seems to be tons.

Don't think they were related but I recall Gorman calling him uncle Hughie in the book. I think that's just a traveller thing though.

Surely homicide henry will be on hand to clear up such discrepancies?

No, Fury's mother is a Burton. Tyson and Hosea are, as a traveller would say, "full cousins". Mere cousins aren't usually any relation!

Peter Fury was interviewed recently, I can't remember where, and he did the usual Fury thing about how they are from a long lineage of fighters and he mentioned Uriah Burton as being a relative and how he had been king of the gypsies in his time. I think it was boxing monthly or boxing news. I'll have a look to see if I threw it out.

Cue our resident gypsy historian... Henry, where are you?

That is a nuts story ! - I started out thinking that it cant be true, but then thought sometimes fact is stranger than fiction and it would take a mad imagination to come up with that !

Barkers biography is a good read, interesting around the bare knuckle stuff he grew up with on Big Justs camp, then his sparring at the Kronk, solid pro boxing career and run ins with one of the main men in the quality street gang. He once told me about having an absolute gym war with Caveman Lee and then coming round being pulled out of the ring by his feet didn't even see the punch that did him

I have only ever seen ONE copy of the book that Uriah Burton wrote. Apparently he only made copies for immediate family and related parties. It was never open to the public. The best information one could ever hope to find of Burton is in old newspapers. From what I understand Burton was mentioned once or twice in old issues of BOXING magazine in Britain and there is newspaper stories with pictures of him standing over two fallen opponents. I have yet to locate them, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. My intention, one day, is to do a scrap book of the Burton, Gorman and Fury families and publish it to somewhat 'confirm' the stories said in interviews and books.

Burton would have a lot more support from the travelling lads. Gorman isn't highly thought of. John Partridge is seen as a good man to have a drink with. If you'd like to see how the lads all carry on now, go on York Press website and see what happened yesterday. Absolutely no fair play.

Thought for a moment it said 'big Lust' thought this was some sort of historical gay shocker.
