Who's a fighter you loved to watch who never quite made it as World Champion?
Or any fighter not elite level who you loved to watch?
David Tua springs to mind initially for me.

Ji Hoon Kim, Teddy Reid, Emanuel Augustus, Micky Ward, I also was a big fan of David Tua.
Earnie Shavers is one that springs to mind.
And a great fight between 2 guys that I'm pretty sure never became Champions back in the 80's was Bill "Caveman" Lee vs John Lo Cicero. If you want to check that out you won't regret it. It's wild stuff.

Agree with Micky Ward but he did win the WBU Light Welterweight title when he stopped Shea Neary....good pick though

WBU Title means jack sh*t.
I'm pretty sure David Tua held the NABF Heavyweight title at one point. That's about the same as the WBU as far as importance.

Harold brazier was a favourite of mine; very smart and could set traps and box for fun.

For me it has got to be Henry Wharton - who was an exciting and important player in the bigger Benn-Eubank-Collins-Watson epic story - and who was a monster puncher and hard man as well. Both Benn and Eubank knew that Henry could take their belts and treated him with much respect. Watching Whaton climb the rankings was exciting, he really did level a few blokes.
Michael Brodie, Andy Holligan and Nicky Piper were also favourites of mine and good calls by earlier posters. I loved the way Holligan went out to Mexico and just fearlessly took it right to Chavez in his own backyard; that was properly heroic and watching the fight back a few times reminds me that Andy made a decent start.
More recently, I like Macklin. I know Matt has not finished yet and wants another crack, but my suspicion is that he'll join Sibson and Graham as world class British middles who never got the top prize. Hope to be proved wrong!
