I grew up reading about the shocking performance of former world welterweight champion Luis Rodriguez against Bunny Sterling in this country in 1971. Now I get the picture of how Rodriguez must have looked that awful night.
Justin Juuko was completely shot.

It was hard viewing to say the least. Hopefully he'll do the right thing and retire. It's sad to see any fighter like that, but when it's someone who you've admired and someone who was formerly very, very good it's even worse.

jukko was shot to pieces,but fair play to gomez he could only beat what was in front of him.looked very focused.hope jukko retires or he will end up getting hurt.

The definition of 'shot'. Thank goodness he wasn't hurt, and hopefully he will retire now.

Jukko was shot alright, shame to see him like that. He should retire alright. Gomez did what he had too do and looked good in the process, hes turned himself around.

How far he'll go remains to be seen. When he was asked if he thinks he can become a "World Champion" in the interview and he said "I am a World Champion". I thought please!!!

Anyone else think the same ????

Im no fan of these made up "World titles" and it makes it worst when you hear things like that.

Brings it all back what these titles are doing to the sport.

I'd like too see him against a ranked name who has recently given a good account of himself.

the wbu title is no good they sanction any1 under the sun and u never find out how good u r until they bring in a ringer and u get spanked.

u can't jump from the likes of alex arthur and justin juuko up to diego corrales and erik morales.

sanctioning bodies love a european champ and franky boy is well in there with the wbo so maybe he can get him a shot at it when corrales has buggered off to lightweight.

Gomez wants to fight the top Super Featherweights. How long does everyone think it will be before Gomez gets a shot at a genuine top3 Super Feather.

To be honest, a top 3 Super Featherweight, I can never see it happening.

Ricky Hatton is not even fighting the top 3 in his weight, yet! and he's very highly up there.

I can see him being feed a diet to keep the WBU a live more than anything. European title would be nice, but the WBU has the World title tagged on it, so how can the fooled public be expected to understand how a "World Champion" is to fight for a European title

That was terrible, Juuko could barely stand up, and the ref waved it off after he fell over withour being hit.

It was very odd, i've seen spent fighters before, and fair enough their balance does go, but i've never seen it to that extent.

Thats what losing a lot of weight quickly does to you. Takes your legs away from you.

I found it quite disgusting to be honest. I've been following boxing for over twenty years and am sick of all these tinpot titles going about now... it's good to see Gomez putting his life back together and doing well but last nights fights was nothing short of criminal. Aside from the fact that Jukko was completely shot and has looked a 'shot' fighter to varying degrees for quite a while now.... there is also the question of Jukko being allowed to fight for the 130pound 'world' ha!...title... when he most recently was fighting at 140!. After all the tragedies in the ring in recent years it's just appalling that this was allowed to happen. How was this fight allowed to take place?..... the fans once more were misled into thinking that this would be a 'tough match' and Jukko was allowed to take a beating he may live to regret in years to come.
The saddest thing is that Jukko will probably fight on and be used as a stepping stone for other fighters.... and we wonder why boxing is now a minority sport!.

And who saw Nicky Piper today introducing the Gomez vs Jukko slaughter after the Mayweather fight (what a brilliant boxer Mayweather is and isn't Jim Watt just a little bit jealous!) ....and describing it as if it were a classic!... what a prat!!!..... he didn't even have the sensitivity to look embarrased at having to rerun such a shocking 'fight'.

you know the difference bewtween Hatton and Gomez?

If Gomez was offered a big name tomorrow he'd snap your hand off to face chico or Morales (even if it wasn't likely he'd win). Hatton on the otherhand

Yes I noticed that to, Piper is supposed to be an intelligent man, but the comment about the Gomez fight were just plain stupid.

As for the Gomez 'fight' like many have said before me it was quite disturbing to watch, Jukko was completely shot.

The whole event left a bad taste in my mouth, it was a totally worthless 'fight'.

Too right. A rally in Pensacola yesterday to show support for local hero Roy Jones Junior after his shock loss to Antonio Tarver attracted...350 people.

Jukko is more shot that John Lennon.

Shame because only 3/4 years ago I fancy he would have kicked Gomez's arse.

Still I am more impressed with Gomez these days, I'd like to see him moved along very quickly because I have a feeling he will have a short time only fighting like this, I figure him to burn out in the not too distant future so chuck him in with big name now if you can one.

That's what I don't understand with Warren's style of management, if Gomez went in with say Corrales and got stopped in 3 rounds he can always come back and generate good money in competitive domestic scraps.

can someone please explain to me what mickey vann was waiting for.jukko was staggering all around the ring and was totally out on his feet.i knew gomez would KO him but i didint know he was this shot!! it was like watching james hare jan bergman all over again!
