If Calzaghe came back....

Let's say (in my opinion unlikely) that Froch beats Groves next week and Eddie Hearn offers Calzaghe 10m to come back and face Froch (a sum Calzaghe has said he would return for) who would win?

In his prime Calzaghe would have boxed rings around Froch in my view but obviously he's been out of the ring for 5 and a half years and there would be an awful lot of ring rust to shake off.

Nevertheless could he pull it off?

No. Too long a lay off for a 42 year old.

I agree, however, if he had stayed in tip top shape it might of been different, but he hasn't !

He can't even make a fist with his left hand now. Do your research!

He'd beat Froch, Kovalev, Adonis, Ward and Golovkin all on the same night by stoppage before rematching Evans Ashira, Bronco Sobot and Peter Mandredo.

Froch would stop him. Ward would stop him. Groves would stop him. anybody legit top 10 would stop him.

His punch resistance and balance were starting to go in his last fights.

Carl would retire from boxing and enter a iron man contest at least once a week. George would get back on the barrows in the bush and S.O.G will return to his flock.

I personally believe that with a few months training Calzaghe could outbox Carl Froch. However, as someone said, he seems to have at least one busted hand and probably wouldn't want to do it anyway. He doesn't need to. It wouldn't be pretty either, but he'd do it I think.

Calzaghe can never come back. He has been partying way too much in recent years and at his age his body will never be fit enough to box again. I remember watching him in a charity football match where he was the captain and he barely lasted 2 minutes before substituting himself. His stamina is horrendous now.

Similar to Hatton, Calzaghe would get stopped, due to fitness, by someone he would've toyed with in his prime

You're exaggerating. He would comfortably beat Froch though.

It'd clearly have to be at a higher weight than 12 stone and it's not that daft a thread. If Froch v Groves can generate as much as it's generating a Calzaghe V Froch fight would be off the scale. Agree that it'd be hard for Calzaghe to get into the right shape but he's hardly ballooned in weight to the point where he could never fight again.

If Froch has another fight next week and he will, I'd quite fancy Calzaghe to beat him. Five years of not getting punched can do wonders for a man.

Clearly nobody reads anything. Calzaghe can't make a fist with his power hand. Ridiculous thread!

If it's such a ridiculous thread why do you keep commenting on it?

Can't believe people think he would have a chance!

Even if his hand was 100% and he could make the weight comfortable, he wouldn't win a single minute of any round.

He hasn't fought for years so he will have lost his speed, power, reflexes, stamina, and punch resistance.

I'd be shocked if it went 2 rounds.

A prime calzaghe beats a prime froch IMO but even then it would be a good fight

I read an interview and Joe said his hands were horribly painful, the cumulative effect of 25 years of hard punching had left them in an awful state. He looks well and in trim, he'll never come back and I'm glad he won't. Boxing looks a very hard way to make money and he's a boxing success story, why spoil it?
