Both of those wouldn't of made any difference if allowed to go on. Benn and Foreman were finished in those fights

Could be completely off the mark but did buster Douglas get a long count v Tyson?

I don't understand? The count WAS long. As for getting a life, I've got one thanks, just popped on here and answered as I remembered. Sorry for that...

There was some dubious counting in the Williams v Airich fight (as well as some good old early bell ringing ala Enzo v McPhilibin)

In fairness, Tyson also got a long count

Sorry, not got time to reply properly, I'm busy watching Tyson-Douglas on a loop, I don't have a life(despite my mrs and three kids and job, etc)...

Why is Foreman-Ali dubious?

Foreman goes down with 11 seconds left and is counted out at when the clock ticks 0. Don't go by the commentator's erroneous count--he starts at one when Foreman has been down for several seconds, failing to consider that the ref looked over to the person taking the count and therefore presumably didn't start counting himself at 0; this happens all the time when refs take a few seconds to send someone to a neutral corner, then pick up the count at 3 or 4.

Long count or not, this was certainly queried. It was a huge deal at the time. So doesn't fall into the op's question category.

Benn vs mclennan.

Benn knocked through the ropes in the first round and was given a long count. The ref said after that he gave benn extra time to get back in the ring but benn never fell off the apron of the ring so wasn't entitled to a longer count. The ref changed his tune later and said it was a standard 10 count and no extra time was given.

We all know what happened next.

I don't recall this been queried at the time too much. It certainly looked a long count to me.

Taylor v Froch. Taylor was down for about 12 seconds.

Questionable whether he would have made it up with a correct count.

Time it with a stopwatch. He was on the canvas for about 13 seconds.

i've watched Benn Watson a few times but my connection is poor right now. I never thought anything was wrong with it?

I was wondering the other day what would have happened to the Boxing world had Henry Cooper knocked out Ali........I guess the answer would have been a rematch with predictable results....or would Cooper have had to face someone else? (i assume it was for the title).

The rematch did have predictable results..

Lamon Brewster v Luan Krasniqui.

First knockdown I think. Krasniqui was put down hard, the ref reaches 8 with Krasniqui still down, then stops counting and waits for about 5 seconds for him to get up.

That's the longest count in history. Sure the ref went backwards at one stage ha 6,7... 7 and a half... 7 and 3 quarters..

Bruno-Cummings. Cummings gets up during the count and then immediately drops down to one knee, and the referee just waves it off without continuing to count.

That fight left me with no doubt that Khan was a brutal KO waiting to happen.

At 7 amir went down and Marcus signalled for him to get up rather than count 8,9 & out

Khan-Limond! How could I forget. They stopped just short of providing a crane to get him back up.

Cleverley v Kovalev - the ref picked him up, gave him a cuddle and kiss didn't he :OhYes:
