Regardless of what you think the outcome will be, or the mind games and all the rest of it, I think even the most ardant Froch fans would accept Groves has a great chance, and vice-versa.

My point in this thread is, if Groves wins he will rightly become a household name in this country (if he's not already) and there will be massive clamour to see his future fights. Having just signed with Sauerland, how will Sky react to this? Do they start to look at alternative promoters again as they won't want to lose their new golden goose or do they just stick exclusively with Eddie in the hope Callum Smith, Anthony Joshua etc are superstars in the next couple of years?

I think it could really open things up again...

Sauerland have said that after this fight they will look at potential UK TV deals.

As long as Matchroom have the bulk of todays prospects tied up they will have no worries at all about the result of this fight. Whoever wins they win.

There is always another prospect around the corner.

I'm sure sky will just offer a deal to Sauerland to show Groves' fights in the future. Potentially making them PPV against the right opponent I.e Degale, Kessler etc..
I think Braemer, Boystov and the likes will no doubt stay on b-nation

It could realistically happen that Degale, Mitchell and Froch all lose on Saturday night which would not be too good for Matchroom.

Almost a panic to get a deal so that the result of the fight doesn't affect him going forward.

No, if DeGales wins on Saturday. He becomes mandatory to Groves and that fight is going to be huge because the first fight was extremely close.

when match room started under barry hearn mr warren was the big man of british boxing then hearn came along and offered purses nearly double to what mrwarren did so i imagine if eddie is doing the same that at some time groves will end up with matchroom

Yep... but Barry was a gentleman who paid boxers what they were worth .A man of integrity who shouldnt be classed along with other dodgy promoters.

I can't see what would spell disaster for Matchroom at the moment. They have a contract with sky until 2016, all the talent you could ask for. Froch probably only has 2 fights left anyway.

Hearn would do a co-promotion with the Sauerlands to get the Degale fight on Sky I'm sure.

I agree, but probably the best decision for him business wise so can't be too hard on the decision.

Difficult to tell what different promoters are paying, but I did see this recently from Bradley Saunders

I guess there is a reason he tends to go bust.

It's a matter of time until BT Sport properly commit to boxing. A Sauerland deal would make sense for both parties I'd have thought.

Nope, I have Froch in the 10th.

Firstly I think youy'e greatly overstating the idea that Groves is a household name, or anywhere near.

Despite the media attention of the first fight & the hype that this is the biggest fight that has ever happened. EVER! Many people outside of boxing fans don't know Groves.

This isn't the Eighties when boxing was huge business, with fights on ITV & fighters that everyone knew. Thios is A PPV that will do well with the boxing fans & might attract a few casuals, but "household names" is stretching that far even for FRoch let along bloody Groves.

As for Matchroom I think a loss hurts but Eddie still has some big fights lined up & several promising up & comers. He'll do alright for the foreseeable.
