I'm assuming you mean that James DeGale losing is an upset? It's certainly possible. This is by no means an easy opponent, or a guaranteed Chunky win. Though I'd predict a DeGale to win if you asked me to pick.

Not seen Gonzales fight but one thing you can say he has been getting the best sparring possible for the fight.

Gonzales has Virgil Hunter in his corner. Doesn't mean too much, but I can think of worse people to have in your corner championing and coaching you.

Yeah, I am going for the upset here in a close one. As mentioned you cannot get any better sparring than Andre Ward for this fight and Hunter is a better trainer than Mc Donnell.

A close one on cards in the UK means Degale gets the decision.

Anytime a fighter travels abroad to get a win they need the stoppage or to school the home fighter eg Froch v Abraham, Crawford v Burns to name a couple.

I do think he'd have to actually KO DeGale to win.

I can't see Gonzales getting a decision (irrespectively of what happens), away from home, and with DeGale already being mentally pencilled in to fight Groves in 'DeGale v Groves 2: The Rematch'........

DeGale-Gonzales is a final eliminator for the IBF title, the winner of Froch-Groves has to face the winner within 120 days, DeGale won't step aside and unless Groves wins, then fights Abraham, I can't see the IBF allowing either man to make a voluntary. The maximum time I could see them being allowed is 9 months, in Froch's case that would mean fighting DeGale next, Groves may be able to sneak a fight in between.

Absolutely. Maduma looks good value early doors and looks fairly big too.

I think degale wins fairly handily on the scorecards. Gonzales tires in the second half of a fight and degale is cute enough to win a couple of rounds in the first 6 before running away with it in the 2nd half of the fight.

DeGale seems to think it is, Daily Mail and various other sites are running with that line. Even if it isn't, unless there's a third fight and Froch has already said he'll retire if he loses and Groves doesn't seem that interested, he will probably get the fight anyway because it's the biggest money fight out there for either man.

I like Degale. He hasnt had the best luck, but he has kept at it and I think his talent will come through.

this for me. It can't hurt but having seen them side by side and read a bit, I'm backing Jimbo. I think he'll win quite comfortably. Points job. I reckon the Yank is gonna step out at Wembley and scrap like his life depends on it, hence I think points.

I still don't understand why Hearn is putting DeGale in with this guy tomorrow night. Any contender would do. Why take the risk? If Froch wins it's an easy fight to make.

And I agree with you sir. I really think DeGale has what it takes. Ironically, I think his opponents trainer is the perfect trainer for DeGale.

I like Degale too, I picked him in the Groves fight. And I don't disagree about Hunter, I've just been quite frustrated with the way he's fought for the past few years. He's obviously a talented lad, hopefully he'll put on a show tomorrow.
