Which boxers are your favorites? By favorite boxers, not necessarily who think were the greatest of all time. Not necessarily who you think were the greatest in the "Pound for Pound" category.


Was it a boxer who had an immense amount of heart, stamina, endurance, gameness & class? Like a Joe Frazier or Rocky Marciano?

Was it a slick boxer who could switch from orthodox to southpaw style like a Tyrone "Butterfly" Crawley?

Was it a southpaw boxer like a Chuck Davy, Pernel Whitaker or Hector "Macho" Camacho?

Was it a nitty, gritty swarmer like a Tony Zale, Jake LaMotta, Carmen Basilio or Arturo Gatti?


Was it a tall, lean boxer-puncher who had very good punching power like a Thomas Hearns?


Or, was it a heavyweight slugger who had great punching power like an Earnie Shavers or George Foreman?

Generally fighters who take on everyone...even when the odds are against them...travel to fight opponents as well as staying at home...and have a proper career...that is they have ups and downs...and recover from their lows...

Esparragoza was most definately a firm favourite, saw plenty of his fights. I have not seen Jeff Chandler but I intend to.

That is a great example of the career of the great Roberto Duran. That is why he is my favorite fighter.

Great list! Did you ever see Augie Pantellas??

Evrenb : I did see Augie fight many times including his sensational war with Arredondo. Two other of my top favorites that I somehow left off my list were "L'il Abner and Georgie Benton.
