Patterson's my favourite boxer, but I don't think his chin was that bad. He was just born too late for the smaller heavies and too early for CW.

Maybe Lewis? I think that's really stretching it, though. Ill-prepared once, and caught cold previously. Benn has to be in with a shout, right?

Considering how poorly I rate Khan's chin, I have to concede (as someone who isn't a fan) that he must be amazingly talented to achieve all that he has.

Americans always regarded Hamed as wide open with no defence, so I think he might be my pick. Not chinny, just off-balance a lot of the time, but he made it to the top largely thanks to skills that cancelled out his need to rely on taking shots well.

Roger Mayweather had a rep for being vunerable, a superb boxer as well.

Good pick. I remember lots of writers giving Lueshing a small chance of winning by KO when they fought. I also remember Ian Darke saying that he'd spoken to Kevin before the fight, and that Kev fancied himself to land a big shot early doors.

Who didn't look vulnerable against Hagler, though?! And Barkley's right hand was a belter. I thought Tommy had decent whiskers, but I suppose it's fair to say he was vulnerable at elite level.

Had a chin that could take a shot, but his legs betrayed him and he went into a static mess and shipped heavy punishment whilst still on his feet (Witherspoon, Lewis, Tyson both times, Jumbo Cummins)

The Bonecrusher Smith beating was brutal affair. he took some serious hammer and was eventually beaten to the floor. You rarely see a beating of that magnitude these days.

When i watch that and then watch the Degale stoppage over Carl Dilks i think "what has happened to boxing, it has become a tickling contest"

We are talking about levels here, also Graham was a defensive genius, he never took much.
You could also say Hearns only got ko'd by Leonard, Hagler and Barkley, while beating some great hitters

did Bruno just not have the brains to go down on a knee and take the 8 count
I'm surprised at the amount of winning fighters who don't run grab or take the breather when buzzed. It's not rocket surgery

I think when Bruno got buzzed, he was too buzzed to make the decision to go down, he was almost asleep on his feet.

Roger Mayweather - wouldn't include Tommy Hearns, you don't get to be an all time great if you have a vunerable chin: you had to really catch Hearns right to hurt him - look at the shots he took off two of the best of all time before going down: Hagler and Leonard.

Roy Jones has seemed to have developed a reputation of always being vulnerable because he got KO'd a few times when he was slow/old enough to get tagged.
