Great battling performance from Kevin last night. I'm well chuffed that he the win.

But I can't see him beating Vazquez, nor the winner of the Crawford-Gamboa bout.

I haven't seen enough of Omar Figueroa to comment though. Would Mitchell have any chance against him?

Darleys Perez fights Argenis Lopez for one of the many versions of the WBA title later this month. And what the hell happened to Rchar Abril? Maybe Mitchell could fight him for the interim interim interim version of the WBA title

Vasquez would take Mitchell apart. He may not have much power but he is incredibly technically gifted, more so than anybody Kevin has faced including Burns.

Mitchell is a good fighter but is just not good enough to beat world class opponents, and i believe with more experience himself Maduma would have got the win.

Vazquez would be too good for Mitchell, he's not a puncher by any means, but he controls and judges distance really well, he would travel for the right money, but unless they jobbed him on the cards, I can't see Kevin beating him. I haven't seen much of Abril, but from what I have seen, he looks to be in a similar mould to Vazquez, long, rangy and very well schooled, as we've come to expect from Cubans and he's still WBA champion. I'd give Mitchell a better chance of beating him, but again I think he'd struggle. Crawford would take him to pieces, too slick for him and would probably stop him late in the fight. I haven't seen anything of Figueroa, but from what I've heard he isn't the greatest world champion ever and Mitchell would probably have a good chance against him, but he's being lined up to fight Ricky Burns in September, providing Ricky beats Zlaticanin in a few weeks and there won't be a rematch between those two any time soon now they're both trained by Tony Sims and the emphatic end to the first fight means there isn't really any point in a return.

He'd need his head on right to beat Figueroa, but he definitely could. He's the weakest of the champs, imo. No power hi-NRG brawler type. Pushes his punches a bit & tends to slap.

Abril is as people have said tricky & hard to hit but he's also boring as fvck, isn't the hardest worker in the world & I personally think that he doesn't hold a shot all that well. Again, if Kev can get his head on straight I'd give him a decent chance in this one.

Miguel Vázquez can be torrid to watch but is a right nightmare to fight. Strong, rangy, awkward & good. Great engine, great chin, good defence, a consummate spoiler. Has "AVOID ME PLS" written all over him. Only Bradley & Canelo Alvarez (twice) have beaten him. He beat Prescott a couple of months after Breidis did Khan in. He just beats everyone put in front of him. People raved about the Eastern European kiddie (Shafikov (sp?)?) but Vázquez drubbed him on points imo.

The winner of the Crawford vs Gamboa fight is right out, imo, if he actually has designs on winning a title rather than just challenging for it.

Harsh & inaccurate on my part yes, caught me, but the boy's definitely not what you'd call a puncher imo. I know he's got a lot of knockouts but if you watch him fight you'll see what I mean. He overwhelms guys, pressures them out of the fight with volume. He kinda swings square on when he wants to throw with power from what I've seen of him, & the rest is just shoeshine stuff, a lot of arm punches. Then he has these big wild swinging moments & then it's back to shoeshine.

At the top level he won't score a knockout, imo. I think Juan Diaz hit harder, a famously average (in top-echelon terms) lightweight hitter.

I do think he could definitely get to Kev late on with his consistency & work-rate (which is admittedly fvcking silly) but I think Kev would take him if he had his head on straight. Figueroa takes a lot of punches imo & as I've said I think Kev could take his more than Figueroa could take Kev's.

Omar will get him out of there like Jhonny Gonzalez & shite now, you watch.

Na those are all valid points. His fight with the japanese chap was a war and the jap was seriously tough. Mitchell is clearly a superior boxer though no doubt. I just worry about his punch resistance at the top level.
