he separated from his manager (Hobson I believe) whilst he was champion. Nobody was taking care of the paperwork. By the time he tried to get a fight set-up I think he'd missed some kind of a deadline and so they took it off him. Think that's how it happened. Maybe they don't send reminder letters/ emails, I don't know. :-?

and next week Stuart Hall goes up against Butler for the same belt - I think McDonnell might be on the card I can't remember tho. Haskins is.

His mandatory was due and he left Dennis Hobson and didn't agree the fight in time, so was stripped of the title. He was complaining that he didn't get the offer from Hobson in time, but admitted he turned it down anyway because it was only for £30,000 and he wanted more money, was also complaining that Hobson gave him the option of fighting on Sky or allegedly, he said Sky, Hobson chose allegedly, which as the promoter he has every right to do. I don't think Jamie really understood the situation he was in, seemed to have been badly advised.

The IBF are meticulous with their rules. When he won it he was ordered to face the mandatory within 90 days. Hobson complied Jamie didn't want to know. Badly advised. Thought he could just jump ship and arrange a defence later. Wrong.

N1 - McDonnells on a Hobson show ? That's very funny. Gavin only fought the other week and Jamie last night.

There is a lot of rumer about Jamie listening to people other than his manager and wanting more money last time I heard Hobson still held Jamie's contract. I dont belive there will be a hall mcdonall clash until the contract legal cases are sorted. Just had a look at Jamie's page and no manager stated.

No he hasn't done since his lad collapsed in the ring I believe?

Also Jamie McDonnell had his belt stripped as he didn't fight within the 6 months after he won the IBF http://m.thestar.co.uk/sport/boxing/con ... -1-6163283

Quite strange when you consider quite a few IBF champions only fight once a year, hence why 'boxing politics' is more than likely the reason he lost it, especially given how it has ended up in Halls hands (managed by Hobson)

Had to sign within 6 months he didn't having fallen out with his manager, only have to sign to take a mandatory fight within six months when the fight that they win the title is for a vacant title
