I think the key to this fight is whether Golovkin's freakish power travels up to 168.

Golovkin has the better technical skills, is much faster and has a chin arguably as good as Froch's never having been put down as a pro or in 400 amateur fights.

Froch has the size advantage and I think has a significant reach advantage. He is obviously also a natural super middleweight and may have a stamina advantage (although we don't know that for sure given Golovkin has yet to go beyond 8 rounds).

Overall, if Golovkin is as big a puncher at 168 as he is at 160 then I think he wins the fight by stoppage as he would certainly land big shots on Froch during the fight. If the power is not so devastating then Froch has a chance to outwork him and win on points.

I dont think he's much faster. Groves is faster than GGG IMO.

Froch would expose him too.Froch a very hard hitter himself and I was saying that 6 years ago.he was being tested by Glen Johnson and one stiff uppercut and Johnson stopped marching fwd.same with Arthur Abraham.

Froch chin takes golovkins shots I see a Froch points win

It's a 50/50 fight. Froch is huge at that weight, muscle and bone, very strong and a big hitter. Golovkin has better footwork, punch variety and defense. GGG hasn't beat the caliber of opposition for me to judge his power against Froch. Carls chin is proven and his toughness is second to none.

I'd love this fight to happen.

This is the fight I would be absolutely doing my nuts in to make. Chavez Jr? Pffffff. He isn't rated that highly really is he? Plus he keeps pulling out of big fights.

Surely this fight could be made for Vegas couldn't it?

Golovkin wins for me, irrespective of whether his power fully carries to '68 - his fundamentals are good enough to beat Froch on points if he has to.

I see Froch taking on JCC Jnr next (in a fight Carl should win) at 168 but a GGG fight would be a fantastic spectacle somewhere down the line.

I'm sick of reading all of this Golovkin hype.

He's been a pro over 8 years now and his best win is against Macklin.

Golovkin doesn't deserve a fight against Froch at the moment. Let's see if he can beat Geale first.

Arthur Abraham was at one time believed to be the tough power punching monster ggg is held to be now.people forget these things.
Froch manhandled a on fight nite a 185 pound Jean pascal who was cutting down to 168.

I'm glad to see this thread as u never ever hear of matchup like ggg,or quillin,or Sergio Martinez for Froch .

I'm pretty sure Froch has mentioned Golovkin as a possible opponent and as a fan of boxing as well as a fan of both fighters I'd say this is one of the best fights that could be made in the sport of boxing. Please have it in the UK. September would be fine.

I doubt it will happen though. Chavez jnr is next.

Good fight. I think Froch would struggle against G's body shots, and G would struggle against Froch's long arms. I'd favour Froch unless it happened at 165.

Chavez is definitely a better matched fight for me, I think Golovkin would beat Carl up, whereas Chavez and Carl would beat each other up and then Carl would beat him up a bit more and win.

I would give my eye tooth to see this.

The unstoppable force vs the immovable object...would be absolute quality to see this fight, genuine 50/50.

I've thought about it a bit. Froch is way too tough and proud to be turned into one of GGG's 'performing reversing monkeys'. Unfortunately that could be his undoing. This would be a brutal, brutal war. It would pain me not to be able to see it. So I guess I'll be in pain.

Carl Froch summed it up when asked about a fight with Golovkin, " I think will avoid him, he hits like a mule " said Froch, a bit tongue in cheek, but he respects the power.

On the subject of GGG's power travelling up it was interesting to hear Kovalev state that he hits "like a sledgehammer" (Kovalev has sparred with Golovkin). The interview isn't in the best English but you get the drift.

If even Kovalev, a guy with a solid chin at lightheavy, finds Golovkins punches ridiculously hard in sparring he could be a monster at super middle with the 10oz gloves on.

Indeed. I also heard that Kovalev stopped sparring with Golovkin because GGG punched too hard in sparring. This was from Golovkin's trainer (I guess we have to take the comments with a pinch of salt though, given the bias).

Froch ain't the hardest to hit but golovkin ain't as fast as groves nor as he got the range & is pretty flat footed. I'd expect froch to take him after 6rds

Golovkin's power is ridiculous, I was speaking to Mike Perez (Cuban Heavyweight) last week at Adam Booth's Gym & he has sparred GGG, he said that Golovkin caught him on the forearm with one shot and it was that hard that he genuinely thought his arm was broke, he continued to say every punch he throws is thudding, and very hurtful, even a jab, now that's coming off a very durable, tough, big strong world class heavyweight, that's genuinely frightening power, especially considering the size difference and the fact GGG doesn't try and take liberties in sparring like I've been told and wearing 16oz gloves, so the way Froch likes to rely on his chin, I think the only outcome would be in 10oz gloves, It would be brutal IMO and you can never fully write Froch off but I think Froch now deserves to fulfil his dream of headlining in Vegas and then retiring rather than take what would be IMO a terrible hiding.

wasn't meant has a name drop, if I was gonna drop names then I could of said that last Tuesday My wife & I had breakfast with David Hasslehoff in ChinoLatino in London & then later on that day met up with Elton John at Claridges in London, but I didn't, even though amazingly it's a true story

But getting back to Golovkin, the way his power has been described to me, it's genuinely unbelievable mate, freakish.
