He's just a win for hire these days, sad but true.

I can't see him making much money after expenses, trainers fees, manager cut etc.... Makes you wonder why he bothers?

Surely he can't be short of money. Plenty of good paydays along the way and he lives like a monk.

Shame to see, Danny is a lovely guy.

I count 19 EBU/Brit/world/commonwealth heavyweight title fights on his record. Surely that paid the mortgage.

A four rounder?

Seems a long way to go to lose a four rounder.

Saying that. It looks like Danny fought there the week before, in another four rounder.

His kids are in a good private school leaving him to pay tens of thousands in tuition fees. He clearly never managed his money carefully when he was at the peak of his career.

He manages and trains himself and a friend of his does the corner, the flights, hotel and food are paid for by the promoters who hire him, he gets regular purses, his record, including his victory over Tyson gets him decent money and plenty of work, that he mostly uses for his kids school fees.

Should have retired five years ago. Pretty horrific to imagine him fighting at this point. :(

You could say that about many boxers out there today, money dictates.

Yeah, but how much would he be paid for a 4 rounder ? - can't be much (especially as the promoter will pay to fly him over and put him up in a hotel for a couple of days) ?

He should be in the EBF, not fighting in actual pro contests anymore.

Well the way things are going that private education might be needed to pay for the care Danny is probably going to need when he gets older because of the damage he's taken in his boxing career. It's all well and good paying for your kids to have a great education but surely they'd rather have their dad about versus him ending up a vegetable which is the way it's going at the moment.

I imagine he does next to no hard sparring. Undoubtedly he's doing damage fighting on, but generally he goes down meekly and fights a lot of fellow journeymen.

This is such sad news.

I've met Danny Williams & he's a great guy & it's such a shame that he's effectively ended up as a human punch bag.
