Kali Meehan wins NZ Prizefighter tournament, KO's Sprott

Sprott down twice and stopped in the 1st round of the final.

Sounds like an awful standard. Rahman was beaten in the Quarters by a guy who lost to a 0-10 opponent in his prior fight.

Sprott won a decision against Rogan in the Quarters.

I went to this, the standard was poor. Sprott was by far the best boxer on the night but got caught early by Meehan My mate had just offered me 10-1 on Meehan and I laughed saying he had no chance (he got a gift of a home town decision in his quarter final v.s Aussie champ Hunter Sam) Sprott got £50,000 and a nice holiday down under out of it though. On the plus side the local undercard fights were cracking.

Watched it and very surprised they manage to pay the winner circa 100k sterling and runner up 50k it didn't have the feel of a big event.

The Rahman fight was 10 years ago. Kali retired in 2012 & made a comeback for this tournament. The years seem to have treated him better than they have Hasim.

The last punch was definitely behind the head, though Sprott looked gone from the punches before it.
