I'm surprised nothing has been announced yet..... Do you think Groves signing with the sauerlands and subsequently losing to Froch might have thrown a spanner in the works ie Groves wanting a shot at Abraham next to win the belt?

It depends on how the Sauerlands want to approach their strategy in working with Matchroom in the future, to keep things sweet with them Smith will get his shot.

If the Sauerlands don't give Smith the shot after the Groves defeat at the weekend, it has the potential to impact on future dealings with Matchroom I would've thought e.g. if Groves & DeGale happened to hold world titles at the same time, a unification might not be as easy as it would've if Smith had his shot.

I wouldn't have thought it's a big headache for them, he's not going to win anyway.

according to matchrooms website Paul Smith is fighting TBA in July, they probably feel it would be disrespectful to TBA to announce the Abraham fight before that one is done and dusted

Paul Smith said he isn't fighting in July. Seems the matchroom press release was wrong unless they know something smigga doesn't and the world title fight has fell through.
