Mike Goodall 'Majority Decision'

He's been mc-ing since Noah had Ark Promotions (plenty of easy matchmaking there) and he still doesn't know the difference between a split and majority decision??? He announced Hall-Butler as being a majority verdict.

Heinously bad form from him, especially if Hall expected the draw as well based on it being one apiece going to the final judge.

Was a shambles really.

Given that he read out the card favouring Hall first, my immediate thought was - its Hall's win or a draw. If he was quick enough Hall could have been (prematurely) celebrating retaining his title...only to be deprived by the next two cards.

Yeh this was rubbish MC-ing. I was thinking it must be Hall's fight then!

Majority decision, pah, what a goon.

Warren always know who won it before the MC reads out the scores and his body language gives it away.

It wasnt necessarily Mike Goodall's error. Its often the case that the two officials responsible for collating the scores, write down the decision and the MC just reads it out.
It is a very rare occurrence for Mike to make a mistake, but we are all human and it does happen.

It was his mistake. Got given the scores and took 20 secs to work it out.

I've noticed a few mistakes from him over the last year or so.

He's an MC it's his job therefore his mistake. People make mistakes your right but this was a world title fight he took ages to read it out and fcuked it up.

He called it a majority decision. It wasn't. Quite a clanger to drop in the circumstances.

Its not a hard job. Getting it that wrong is just ridiculous.

He pissed a lot of people off I'm sure.

Why are good MC's hard to find in Britain?

It seems like one of the easiest jobs in the world, fair enough maybe announcing a fighters record or weight wrong but the result...........?

I'm curious, as Lupset WMC is about 3 miles down the road from me, are you based in Wakefield or is Lupset a bit more of an attraction than I had previously thought ?!

Yea that was a real clanger.

Didn't he also completely forget to introduce dodson in that fight as well?

I'm sure he messed up smiths name and then basically just said ''right, off you go''.

I think Craig Stephens is the best we have in the UK at the moment. Goodhall is well past it, and McDonald tries too hard.

Pass was ok too. Weird that Eddie brings in some Nordic announcer when he can't get buffer. Had him for the Froch Groves 2 weigh in and also for Froch Kessler weigh in.

Mike is one of the hardest workers in British boxing. That doesn't excuse his mistake but it mitigates it somewhat. He's spinnng a lot of plates and doesn't just turn up and do the MCing.

He's got to drive to the venue, unload the ring components, build the ring, hang the ropes, etc, prepare to do the MCing, do the MCing, wait till everyone has gone and then set about dismantling the ring.

He does this however many nights per week pro and am.

Are you kidding? It's more rare for him to get something right.

X3. a proper professional.

I like the tale about how he got to Scotland, opened up his van and realised he'd left the boxing ring back in London !

If hes working too hard that he drops clangers like that, then he shouldnt be working as hard.

So MC's get passed the scores and work out for themselves who won and by how? Then they announce it?

Really?

Any MC's on here can comment on how this works in title fights?

Great fella, but time to retire from mc'ing, can't understand a word he says. He's a good whip by the looks of things so he can concentrate fully on that.
