Hall vs Butler IBF Bantamweight Title - Media Scores

Considering how close the fight was, I'm a little surprised with the results for this one. My card read 114-114.

I collected 32 media scores for the boxing news site, how did you score it? I know Dennis Hobson (Halls Promoter) has been saying that he feels his man didn't deserve to lose the title

cheers for any comments

Only two of 32 believe Hall should have kept his title, writes Bobby Hunter
7 believed he should have kept his title: 2 scored it for Hall & 5 scored it a draw.

I scored it 114-114.

I had it 115-114 Hall but no complaints from me

Not very often you see the vast majority go for the same fighter in such a close fight

I had it level going into the last round, were Butler just nicked it for me. Very close fight, really could have gone a round or so either way. Hall paid the price for a slow start IMO

I haven't seen it on telly yet (watching it tonight) but from where me and the missus were sat it was very close.

Butler blatantly got off to the better start and for me that's what won him the fight. That been said from ringside it looked like Stuey really came back into it from maybe 5-6 onwards and it was real touch and go at the end. I am going to watch it later again and take my emotion out of it to give an honest viewpoint.

I would have said draw but then I really need to see it again to be honest.

I hope it was a good fight for you guys at home it certainly seemed a good one for the people there live. I'm just glad both lads were ok and healthy after, also, I haven't seen the interview, but I was about 3 people back from the camera crew and it looked like there was mutual respect from both at the end which I was glad about

I must say, despite a few silly comments made my way (which I gave back admittedly), Butlers fans were pretty cool after the fight and I didn't see an ounce of trouble all night and even they were saying it was close.

Gutted about the result but hey ho, Stuey and Butler can both say they have been/ are a world champion and for that they should be both very very proud.

All the best lads

Second half of the fight was close, first half was a landslide

Lost the first five rounds, rest of the fight was close. There were not more than 2-3 rounds that were definitely Hall rounds.

I thought Hall won the 5th and dominated the middle rounds.

114-114 for me

Not for me. Hall did better in 5th than he had done before but was still outlanded two to one.

One of the two that scored for Hall has an agenda against Frink Worren therefore I'm inclined to completely ignore his score.
For the record I thought Butler nicked it but there wasn't a great deal in it.

I didn't see him outlanded like that, and I thought Butler started falling short with most of his punches around that time; he was more style over substance at that point.

I had it 116-112 Butler. Some very close rounds but Butler defiantly deserved it !

Excellent fight. Could have gone either way. Hall handed the first 4 rounds to Butler IMO, so it was always going to be uphill from there and I think Butler's toughness over the 12 rounds may have been under estimated.

I had it 115-114 to Butler. Very close, and I can understand the 117-111 card. You only need a few of the very close rounds to go to the same fighter and suddenly you have a score that looks wide.

115-113 Butler for me, although I agree it was close. I however have no idea where the 117-111 for Butler by one of the judges came from. Shocking score that, he should be sacked.

It was a she. And before you say shocking, that was only two rounds different from your scorecard. Likewise, the 115-113 to Hall was two rounds different from your card. Why shouldn't that judge be sacked?

That's a simplistic way of looking at it. There are certainly cases in which two rounds one way is feasible but two round the other isn't.

I can see Butler getting 7 rounds, but finding two more to give him can't be done fairly imo.

It's not simplistic, it's accurate. Unless to get to a 115-113 you gave every close round one way. Can you say there were more than 3 rounds that Hall won without any doubt. I wouldn't say that. People watch fights on TV, with a commentary and see one fight. Sitting ringside, you often see a different fight. Sitting one side of the ring, you often see a different fight to the other side of the ring, particularly if there is a lot of close-quarter stuff on the ropes.

Im a very good pal of stuies and on the night thought he had lost due to his slow start.
But after watching it on bn next day I really thought he could have just nicked it, maybe a draw.
I do think, being the champion, that he should have been given the benefit on the close rounds but never mind, other judge probs got a nice drink ;-)
He'll be back, he came back from losing Brit title to become World champ and he certainly was not outclassed by the already proclaimed world class Butler. Id actually be very surprised if butler would give stu the rematch given how close it was.
Anyway its just another chapter in what has so far been an amazing journey and im really looking forward to what happens next.
