Yeah I thought that too...he reminds me a little of Ali in the late 1970's ; how his cognitive skills became deteriorated...

He just finished doing an off-Broadway run which in which he does 2 hours of mostly memorized monologue. That takes a sharp mind to accomplish.

I don't think Mike took enough heavy beatings to be punchy at this stage. All fighters take damage cumulatively over the course of a career but so many of Mikes fights were cakewalks, even his defenses against world class HW's. He only really took heavy punishment against Buster, Evander 1 and Ruddock.
I admit though, I haven't watched his last 2 defeats.

Dont forget the 1000s of rounds of sparring. Most heavyweight champions develop dementia or some brain related illness at some point. Charles, Louis, patterson, Johanneson, etc Even amongst contenders like quarry and moore the stats are very high. It is a depressing side of boxing that is not talked about enough imo
Top quality pro boxers are often top quality amateurs and will often have been boxing from a very young age. They also often have top quality sparring so they are getting hit a lot.

If he is sounding slurred then you can also attribute it to his cocaine and booze binges, the man has snorted a serious amount of blow in his time.

It is more the slow reactions and cognitive regression...I like that Mike has turned his life around somewhat so it would be a very sad irony if he had PD...
This is a collection of what Mike once was
