I think Brook's in trouble in this fight. He'll be forced to fight outside his comfort zone and I fancy Porter to break him down in about 8 rounds.

That's what I'm thinking, the only time brooks been out of his comfort zone was in the first jones fight and he looked far from special that night.

That was 2 years ago and 12 months ago the result was reversed.
Anyone would think only Brook could have an off day.
He'll bring his A game and he'll need it.
Ever thought Brook might have his own gameplan ?

Hard to disagree with Porters take on Brook.
He seems switched on and mentally strong - he's raring to go.
Hopefully Brook will turn up on fight night and not have any more 'off days'.

Porter comes across really well in that interview.
He talks with respect and confidence and is right to be confident based on what he has achieved and what he has seen of Kell.
It's refreshing to hear an American fighter talk like that when he could follow suit and make demands and assumptions.
He will however face a fighter in Brook who is fully aware of the what he is up against.
Who will have trained for every eventuality and is in there fighting for his dream his self respect and who is finally getting his chance to fulfil a destiny he has been denied time and again through injury or circumstance.
Kell Brooks life will metaphorically be on the line in NYC on the 9th of August career wise respect wise living up to the hype all rest on this fight.
Add in a man in peak physical condition with a detailed knowledge of who he is fighting and knowing overcoming him will release all the pressure make all the disappointment worth while.
Kells beating this guy it's do or die and that will bring out a Brook no one's seen before I truly believe that.
Porter can only estimate based on very little who Brook is and what he brings.
Having faith in yourself based on past events is natural he is a champion after all.
Alexander and Mallinagi where high profile fighters who chinks had been exposed over and again.
Preparing for the unknown is much harder mentally and physically.
And you may well have underestimated the desire of the other man.
He cannot prepare for what's coming his way.

I think Porter is going to beat Brook handily. Whether Brook has an off day or not.

As I've said many times I have absolutely no clue how good (or bad) Kell Brook actually is - despite having watched him about 8 or so times.
I can't wait for this fight

Dont make it one of your larger bets RB

One thing I do think could possibly happen and would be a shame is that Kell might freeze on the night or let the occasion get to him. He strikes me at times as not being the most confident fighter and an 'on top' fighter if that makes sense. I think he does well fighting in Sheffield and stuff because he's in his comfort zone. It will be interesting to see how he does in that regard in America.

Looking at Kells records he should have had a significant step up after he stopped Jackiewicz only person to do that at the time.
Mathew Hatton was a pointless fight IMO (no disrespect to Matt always liked him)
I really think taking him so long to step to the top level could have took away his best years also and like others I was also concerned how easily he was rocked against Senchenko too.
On the other hand Porter passed his acid test against Alexander and demolished Malinaggi ( who looked good against Judah. I favour a Porter win based on this but don't think it will be too one sided.

Columbo
He's already fought in New Jersey.
Only 9 of his fights have been in his home city.

50/50 fight for me
If either fighter doesn't come 100% prepared then I think they will lose.
Can't see it going the distance and I think this has all the ingredients to be a great fight
If I had to pick I would say brook by k.o. In the 8th but not a confident prediction in the slightest.
Can't wait for this fight

A fair post
Hatton was about building a support that would come out and pay.
The business side of Brook needed sorting out as he was well ranked following lots of wins that had appeared early on Wazza bills. He sold lots of tickets but wasn't top of the bill where he needed to be for the money to be generated this took a bit of building. Hence fights like Hatton and Senchenko where these real hard test for Brook at his level no but they where fights that paid and got decent exposure .He gets shit for these fights but the revenue and publicity where really needed Kell is still relatively little known outside boxing circles.
I take heart that people think Porter wins based on Alexander ,Mallinagi, Judah comparisons the level Kells fought at is largely down to risk versus reward and money and latterly injuries.
His career was held back due to in part Wazza being all about other fighters at the time he had Kell.
All those other fighters fukked Frank over in one way or another or he did them and Kell's career suffered.
Hearn has done a good job at rebuilding his profile.
Kell didn't help himself at times he let his head go down but it's his chance to break onto the world stage following literally years waiting in the wings and Porter will need to be better than his shown so far to beat Kell Brook.
Re Senchenko rocking Kell it was more of a buzz than a rock and Kell quickly dispatched him once that happened.
That's a genuine assessment of what happened isn't it.

TJ77 - great post
Yeah I agree - Senchenko hit him on the temple he recovered in seconds and then stopped him.
I think as stated both need to be 100% and this will be a great fight.
Porter may try and jump on him early but as soon as that jab lands I think he will try and brawl and make it messy which is what he is good at. Not seen him box but think Kell would win if it was fought on the outside.

"A percentage of fickle followers of the sweet science used the postponements, and eventual cancellation, to label Brook as a coward,"
Boxrec has a large percentage of the percentage of fickle followers.

Yeah but I remember the build up to the fight in New Jersey and he did look pretty damn in the build up to it. Kell has a ton of boxing ability. Im just worried that he might freeze a little or be intimidated by the Porter Hype.

I think it was more of a temple shot anyway to be honest. Kell's chin generally has always seemed pretty damn solid to me.

The Brook debate has become tedious with repetition after repetition. Think it's time to move on. People have tied their colours to the mast - and those trying to move the goalposts like Ali need to grow some.
Let's see what happens in the fight.
The haters will either gloat or disappear into their shells.
The supporters will either dwell in the afterglow - or take their licks on here.
What I do know about Brook supporters is that they will stay loyal whatever the outcome. That's like it is from the Sheff lads.
