Katsunari Takayama vs Francisco Rodriguez Jr has been scheduled for August 9, putting the IBF champ vs the WBO champ on the line. WBA champ Hekkie Budler is fighting this weekend in Monte Carlo and has been talking unification if he wins. These are great times within the division. Prior to this there have only been 4 unification bouts since 1987 when the major sanctioning bodies began to recognize a 105 pound champ.

Why the hell is Ali Raymi on this list

While unification can only be a good thing, all the top boys are now fighting at light-fly or flyweight: Yaegashi, Ioka, the Thai dude who just beat Ioka, Inoue, Gonzalez, Estrada...

I look forward to seeing a champ crowned at the lightest weight but the real interest for me lies three-seven pounds higher.

I freaking love the Lightning Kid but this is a tough, tough assignment for him here.

I would have to throw names in a hat.I have seen so little of all of those fighters.
No way would could I or most make a reasonable decision.The division is just not covered enough.

Funny thing is most of the biggest fights are televised and easy to find. Just been watching some Roman Gonzalez fights (from when he was fighting at 105)...WHAT A BEAST! Sure they don't have HBO/Showtime backing them but they are covered if people want to see the fights :)

Incidentally Gonzalez has beaten both Takayama and Rodriguez Jr

Budler is WBA and IBO :)

Fat Dan giving me more wrong info on ESPN schedule

Budler looked good winning today in Monte Carlo. I had him winning all but one round before the stoppage. Unification should be next.

Oswaldo Novoa fights tonight on Televisa at 11pm eastern. He should get by Martinez which is his first defense.
