Martin Murray performance

I just watched the fight and my personal thoughts are it was a very flat performance and doesn't look the same fighter of the Martinez fight . Bursak was also very poor and looked like he was there for a payday . The way Murray said he was the best middleweight on the planet the other day I really expected a good performance and was looking forward to a good show .
The is lots go talk of October world title ,let's hope he steps up a gear and if it's true pulls it off

Murray hasn't looked the same and we all say that but...could you not also say Martinez hasn't looked half the fighter he was AFTER that round with Chavez. Murray looked good against a corpse of Sergio if you ask me and he still couldn't close the casket.

Really dislike open scoring, don't think it helped tonight's performance one bit.

Not even inbetween rounds, during rounds, sounds unproffesional as feck

I believe the scoring should of been giving to the corners quietly between rounds, really stupid I think to blast it out all over hall, Especially while the lads are boxing, who makes these crazy rules.

Martin was nice and sharp and boxed well within himself, he's the best middleweight in the UK followed by BJS who in time will win a world title

How does in play betting work with open scoring?

Massive offer - it shocked me - for Sam Soliman to defend against Martin.
Think it will be difficult for Sam to say no.

The only other realistic good payday would have been Geale in Aus but he's getting fed to GGG.
I reckon this is happening. Soliman is awkward but looked tired late on v Sturm round 9-12 decide the fight Murray can beat him if he doesn't give away early rounds like the Martinez fight.

It's nothing to do with payday. It's about the route to the title.

Sorry mate thought you meant payday for Martin. If you mean Sam yes it's not something he could turn down really.

Some comments on here are deluded
Martin beat a former European champion who is really 1 loss against former champion and people say he wanted a payday. Did no 1 notice that martin was too sharp, strong and 1 step ahead? He controlled everything and didn't let Bursak into it and hurt him numerous occasions. Even Bursak and camp admitted he is a different level, Bursak was very durable and is a real gatekeeper of the division

Murray to me seems like the kindv'e guy thats never going to look spectacular. He makes every fight a bit tight and awkward, and its part of the reason i woder if he will ever win a world title.
Soliman isn't a world beater, but he certainly sets a high workrate, Murray has to be on point against the druggy b*stard

Didn't look brilliant doing it, but he got the job done, the styles didn't really clash well and as Bursak charged in it kept getting messy, a lot of wrestling and spoiling going on. It's the best win of Martin's career and he was much improved compared to his last two fights, but I don't think that sort of performance is going to be enough to win him world titles, especially on the road.

I'd like to see Murray vs Froch. I know it's not going to happen but I just think it would be great fun.

Why? Groves would take Murrays head off.

Don't confuse performance and result. The result was great but the performance was lackluatre and uninspired, not for the first time either with Martin

I thought it as a good performance he hurt him numerous times but Bursak chin is solid, outboxed him every round with relative ease, coped with his dirty tactics and lack of referee warnings. He showed he is a wide class above European level and he showed a perfect example of "hitting without getting hit" isn't that a good performance?? Or would u rather him get involved in a war come out with close decision black and blue with miles on the clock?

I'd describe it as a limp performance against an opponent that, at best, is a low European level. To big him up for being a European champion is disingenuous just like describing Kerry Hope as European class because he won the same title. Hitting and not getting hit is all well and good but the constant holding early on and the failure to find another gear was frustrating to say the least. At 31 it's time to put miles on the clock and make sure he has a performance that will see fans wanting to see him again, for me that performance made me think "I'll give him a miss".
I feel much the same with Peter Quillin who I think goes through the motions a lot rather than making a statement when he needs to. Whilst not everyone is Gennady Golovkin and are ale to break people up there are fighters in the same division I'd much rather see than Murray and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Fighters like Stevens, Murata, Lemieux and Rubio all spring to mind.
If Murray is thinking about miles on the clock at this stage and can put 3 poor performances in a row down to that then it sums up a lot.

I'd like to see Murray v Lemieux, that would be a good scrap.

Sorry to say this but what made Martinez such a great middleweight??
I've read Murray couldn't best a corpse of Martinez who in turn beat a corpse in pavlic. Sm's was l. Middle & he was a great one!

I thought it was a very dull, 'by the numbers' performance which is fast becoming Murray's trademark.
I don't really know why some people rate Murray so highly, he hasn't beaten a single quality fighter, and his performances against Sturm & Martinez now look much worse than they did at the time given both champions have since lost their titles in one-sided fights.
