Anyone know the score with Kevin?

The weigh in saga means he's not a mandatory challenger for Vazquez. Which is probably a good thing.

I think he could beat Figueroa or Beltran but I will admit I am a West Ham fan so looking through Claret & Blue tinted glasses (ie dreaming).

And where does Crolla go after his great win over Murray. It obviously wasn't a World title eliminator but what is the next fight for the lad? I'd like to see him against the winner of Mathews v Flanagan.

And while I'm on British Lightweights, will Murray come back? Can Murray comeback? I'd like to see him against Tommy Coyle. I think that would be a cracking bout.

I don't rate Kev at all at world level.

On the boxing side I think you're talking sense. I think Mitchell could be quite a handful for most fighters at world level, a few confidence builders and some uninterrupted preparation and he might do well.

Definitely think Murray can come back and did very well against Crolla until he tired. Did he think he would walk through Crolla and finish him early? Perhaps with a bit of good managerial guidance he could come again, he's only about 30 so it all depends on his desire I suppose.

For me, Cardle is the pick of the lightweight prospects at the moment. Couple of years and I expect him to at least have the European belt.

Crolla and Matchroom are on the verge of announcing a fight with the WBA champion, Richar Abril. Apparently Eddie Hearn is also confident of landing the Vasquez fight for Mitchell.

As someone above has mentioned seems from his Daily Mail article that Eddie is pushing all of his lightweights down different paths for world title shots, so could be quite an interesting back end to the year for British interest in this division in particular.

Terry Flanagan is the pick of the prospects IMO he'll show that July 26th v Derry Mathews.

Billy Nelson rates him highly too after his spars with Ricky Burns.

I don't think either Mitchell or Crolla beat any of the current titlists at 135lbs

If it helps I am actually from Millwall territory but followed my old man by supporting the Hammers.

Lots of decent British fighters at Lightweight who are just a little bit below the cream of the division.

Would be great to have an 8 man tournament between Burns, Mitchell, Crolla, Flanagan, Coyle & Murray with the winner of a bout between Luke Campbell & Mitch Buckland getting a chance D

Ormond was supposed to be headlining a show over here in July or August but has pulled out so he can fight in an ilimanater for the winner of gamboa v Crawford would you believe jus read it on irish boxing.com I don't think he's ready for the likes of those guys but he'd be foolish to turn it down

Same here.

Lost badly against both world class opponents he faced and after all these years and talk of world titles his best win is over Euro-level John Murray, not to mention he was just on the verge of losing to someone who's beaten nobody. Mitchell is one of these fighters who gets put into a narrative of being world class, but I don't see it.

If Crawford beats Gamboa it won't be long before he moves up in weight, there's not many big money fights about at lightweight, wouldn't be surprised to see Top Rank put him in with Algieri at light welter, great chance to become a 2 weight world champion, or if he gets the rematch and wins Provodnikov would be a great fight for him. Gamboa would definitely disappear for a while if he lost, he's never been the most dedicated. This is all about moving Ormond into position to fight for a vacant title. In theory, although it's unlikely and I don't see it happening, Mitchell could win the IBF against Vazquez, Crolla looks set to fight Abril for the WBA belt, Burns is being moved into position for the WBC title and Ormond's being lined up for the WBO, so all 4 belts at lightweight could be held by British and Irish fighters.
